Corey Brewer.

I mean, he wasn't a huge bust, but I really thought he was gonna be a bonafide stud.
me too.  was the last real 'binky' I had going into a draft.

only real binky I had before him was Keith Lee.  thought he was going to be an all-NBA player but turned out to be a dud.  still can't figure out why he didn't have a better career.

I thought Jerome Moiso and Kedrick Brown were going to be awesome.  I used to fall for the tools and athleticism trap all the time, especially for young Celtics players.  I’m much more level headed nowadays since I’ve been dissapointed so many times.  It’s the reason I won’t get too excited about, say, the #27 pick in the draft.  #27 means that the other teams think there are 26 better/safer players to select.

I used to think Justin Reed, Orien Green, and Gabe Pruit would have 12 year NBA careers.  I thought Brandon Hunter would be awesome. I thought Gerald Green would be a perennial allstar.   I thought Stojko Vrankovic and Jiri Welch would be very good players.  Nowadays I pretty much assume late 1st rounders and 2nd rounders won’t amount to much of anything.

There have been quite a few really good players picked late 20s or later. No real superstars but you can definitely get some good starters there. Just look at Gobert or Capela.

The big thing is you need a franchise dedicated to developing talent. Most franchises at that point are in win-now mode, and their coaching staffs don't have time to develop young players unless they're ready to go on Day 1. They're too focused on winning games. There's no reason you can't get good players there though.

Second rounders are usually fringe NBA players at best though. They hardly ever pan out.

I was really high on WCS going into the draft. He's actually a decent player, he's just on an awful franchise.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Andrea Bargnani.

I love his game when he was coming in. A skilled big who can shoot and can put the ball on the floor.

He had one okay season and a ton of bust worthy ones.

For the C's....Acie Earl and Jajuan Johnson

Met Earl at the final 4 and told him that I was hoping he would end up here

I really had high hopes for a bunch of role players during the big 3 era.

Troy Murphy, Nenad Krstic (who had a great start), mikael pietrus, jermaine o'neal, even Marbury.

But in the end these veteran aditions more or less sucked for us or had injury problems.

James Young was not my binkie but I sure got disappointed.

@Monkhouse don't give up on Jabari Parker yet.

I also believed Sullinger was either the next Z.BO or Kevin Love 2.0.

A lot of folks think he should have came out a year earlier, his stock was higher.   But if you watched his games, in the NCAA one could see a lack of athletic ability that was there.   Great hands, and could carve out space, but lacked explosion and at the next level almost everyone has it.  He simply never showed any aptitude for the three but boy was he willing to shoot them.

Instead he was next Mel Turpin in terms of eating himself out of the league.

Wesley Johnson. Thought he would be special.

Also thought Xavier Henry would be really good.

Terrence Williams is another. Really hoped he would come good with us.

Fultz may be too early to tell, but he has not looked as good as I thought

I was hoping for some awkward white boy magic with Adam Morrison.

I wouldn't exactly call him a bust, but I'm pretty frustrated with the career path so far of Donatas Moteijunas

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
This list is long and painful

Darius Miles
Anthony Randolph (late arrived to that bandwagon, still on it)
Stromile Swift
Tyus Thomas
Greg Oden, he’s a bigun
Sebastian Telfair
Leon Powe
Eric Montross
Jonathon Bender
Raef LaFrentz
Lots of centers over the years

Two biggest:

Bruno Caboclo. I was sure this guy would put it together from draft day. And watching the kid sometimes, you could see it. He can basically hang from the rim at 6’10. He seemed to be a hard worker. Just never took that next step. Still kind of a believer.
