Stephen A. Smith kinda nailed it when he criticized Danny Ainge on First Take.

"The reality is that no player will come to Boston to play for Danny Ainge." The guy traded Perk, PP34, KG, Rondo, IT4. He about to lose Irving and Horford. He wasted a lot of time courting Anthony Davis who had zero interest in suiting up a game for the Celtics.

What happens to this narrative if we sign a FA this offseason?

What amount of cap space do we have now when Kyrie and Al leave us? Is there maybe another target (which probably wants to be a Laker) that Danny wants as a part of plan B?

the whole Ball family wants to be Lakers .  It hard for a smaller cold climate team to get these spoiled NBA players .   NBA doesn't help by having so,many teams and lowering the talent pool and multiple teams in LA just lowers the amount of FA possibilities for small market teams even more.

Danny does make good moves but he also was saved from himself a few times because other GMs always worry he’s fleecing them.
For a guy that made 40-50 draft picks since he drafted rondo he’s been really underwhelming.. he also has the reputation of not making a deal unless it’s a clear win for the Celtics. I think that was the reason other teams wanted more from him for butler and Leonard than what they settled for eventually.
He won a title last time he swong for the fences with KG and ray . However he already had Paul pierce who was friendly with KG from his high school days he also knew Allen.
Regarding his failed experiment:
I can see the logic behind having Kyrie here and then bring other superstars he’s comfortable with like Durant and AD what he miscalculated was the level of maturity that Kyrie has. Pierce matured very quickly after the stabbing while Kyrie still spends his time reading conspiracy sites on the internet. Maybe he will mature with the nets and apologize to the Celtics organization like he did to Lebron

Steven A isn't the most stable guy to use for a source in an argument.

PErk was a bad one, but he was trying to go younger and when a championship and thought Shaq would hold up and that Green had more heart. (see what I did there)

PP and KG were no brainers. They were on their way out, and he put them in a position to win a title that the C's couldn't be in. Not his fault the Nets hired Kid as a coach. And that package was a killer package. Think, the Nets right now could have Brown and Tatum.

Rondo was a pain in the butt, bouncing on the team for a birthday party, and just clashed with Stevens and not part of the rebuild. Simple.

IT4 was a tough one like Perk, heart of the team, but that injury isn't one you come back 100%, and he's barley played since. So even if Irving leaves you don't lose that much in an attempt get better.

Horford might be leaving because DA doesn't have a clear path right now to being a contender, and doesn't want to tie up cap with the extra year. And I'm sure it was a 2 year, 3rd team option, and that didn't go well, but it's also smart. And if the Mavs snag Horford, then it was more about money than it was ring chasing.

DA put the C's in a position to have Irving/Hayward/Tatum/Horford/AD next season. It didn't work out, but out side the LAkers who went all in on tanking to get a high pick, no one else could offer a good package, and also compete at the same time. Some times things don't work out that aren't in your control.

Kyrie Irving literally just came to Boston to play for Danny Ainge. Al Horford just came to Boston to play for Danny Ainge. Gordon Hayward just came to Boston to play for Danny Ainge.

The reality is Steven A Smith is a Grade A Clownshoe.
