For the price that russell will cost the team can go after brogdon instead.
If Horford would be willing to take a yearv1 salary of 15 million (backloaded 3 year 60 mill contract) and boston renounced all capholds team could offer brogdon somewhere around 22 million per season.
He would be the ideal pg.
Use all draft picks on depth, get a pg (naw at 14) use 20 and 22 on bigmen amd hope 1 works out to be a stud. Take a gamble. Use room mle on a backup bigman.
Brogdon/naw/
Brown/smart/
Tatum/hayward/
Horford/mle/yabu
Baynes/williams/draft
I would also consider dealing for a bigman that may fit the current mold mid season.
The difference is Russell will be forced out of Brooklyn if Kyrie goes there.
Brogdon on the other hand has no reason to leave the Bucks.
Why would Brogdon leave the Bucks?
For money and the starting pg job.
Brogdon already starts for the Bucks and he's an RFA so the Bucks will just match the offer unless we really overpay.
True.
And I really don't believe Brogdon would leave, he's in a good place.
Milwaukee cannot offer him what he is worth. Cannot do it. They will be way too deep into tax.
Middleton is resign number 1
Lopez is number 2.
Brogdon would be 3rd
And as I stated in a previous post bucks alreaxy have 70 mill committed. 70 mill.
Middleton is most likely 25.
Lopez is on a discount 10 mill.
Mirotic they most likely want and need back at 10ish. That is a minimum of 115 mill payroll, plus mle, plus pick is 155 million in payroll.
There is no way they bring back brogdon at 20 million and have a payroll in the 150 to 170 mill range with the giannis supermax looming.
