I loved how they kept Kobe in longer than needed just so he could pad his stats.

Through 3 quarters 46 pts, 3 asts, 0 rebs and almost half his team's shots...

HE IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS!!!

Lakers are supposed to be the deepest team. I'm not seeing it. Then again Kobe is a ballhog.

Sad part is he is going to be worshiped by the media for doing it. NBA...Where Individuals come before team. That is the message they are sending esp. in all star game snubs.

All things considered the rest of his team shot fairly badly.  He had nearly half of his team's points.  If he came down to earth even a little they would have lost that game.  Wonder if that's a disturbing thing to Laker's fans?  Or do they think he can do that all the time?

So this is Kobe's 5th 60+ point game. Just think that Chamberlain did this 32 times.

I counted the frequency of 60+ point games in each decade:

1940s - 1
1950s - 2
1960s - 36
1970s - 4
1980s - 5
1990s - 5
2000s - 9 (including tonight)

I'm surprised it was done so few times in the 90s. For some reason, I thought Jordan had done it at least 5 or 6 times in the 90s. I guess MJ wasn't nearly as good I thought.  ;)

Hey, they won the game. I hate Kobe as much as the next guy,But the night after having their young stud go down he may have obligated to show the league he can still put the team on his back for a night and get a win.

What a phony guy! Trying to deny knowing what the record for most points is at the garden. Staying in being up 20 just to break it PHONY!

Can we close this topic as it is making me nauseous?   :-X

It's not like the national media won't be all over his junk for the next two days anyway.

Yes, Kobe still got it. Is there anyone out there who didn't knew that already?

That doesn't take away the theory that when he shoots and scores a lot, his team doesn't perform very well.  This is old news. LA barely beat Toronto when he got 82, and that's the way it went every night when he scored 50+ during some stretch. Those were the Knicks out there. NY lets teams score 106+ points per game against them every night, and LA is the highest scoring team in the league right now so no surprise in the final score. QRich? haha, what a stopper.

Everyone knows if that's the way LA plays against good teams, they have no chance. The Finals against the Celtics showed that. We've got D and a real team who performs collectively almost every night, plus 3 all stars who can really step it up in the scoring load if things are not going that well. LA only has Kobe for that (don't say Pau Gasol please). Besides, we don't rely on offense, it's defense what it's needed to be played. It's that simple.

I want the Celtics to crush them on Thursday.
the team to beat...
a force to reckon with...
just pick your poison.

YAWN?

Man for real, ya'll who ain't giving the man the respect he deserves.

Sure the celts n lakers have a rivalry.

But comeon. 61pts on 60% shooting is absolutely insane!
My hat is off to him, might not like him, but you have to respect his game.

In all honesty, PP or LBJ just don't have the skills to match up to this man when he's on fire... There i said it.

I think Paul Pierce could score 60 on the Knicks in a blow out, if his team mates just kept feeding him the ball and all PP cared about was "Being the Man". That's not Celtic Basketball. It's a team game. Paul Pierce is finals MVP and Kobe is MVP. Which would you rather have?
