Could pull a John Elway and ask for a trade when he was pick 1st

Marbury and francis did the same no?

Marbury only played one college season. As far as I know they have loosened the rules on players to return to school in the last 5 to ten years. I don't think this was even possible when Marbury declared (still returning to school after lottery).

I get not liking the Pels but I would love to live in New Orleans.
My son is 30, lives in New Orleans and runs a business off Bourbon St....a club. He absolutely loves New Orleans.

He has leverage. Depends if he wants to use it, especially if he was intent on going to the Knicks.

I don’t think he does. No team will take that threat seriously.

Plus, what’s his strategy? Force a trade to the Knicks, so that they can trade him back to NOP for Davis?

Literally what I was going to say - tp. If the Knicks had won the lottery, they would be trading him to NOP anyway. It's like all roads lead to New Orleans. Sorry Zion!

Zion could return to Duke.

We are now hearing some talk of that possibility from multiple sources. This could be a power play to force his way out of New Orleans.

NY would have traded him to NO anyway. It's not like he would have stayed with them if they picked him.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Sounds like it's just people speculating that he could potentially do this, which isn't even speculation, it's just a statement of fact that technically it's an option.

Zion would have to be crazy to pass up getting selected #1 overall to play another year of college.

The offseason speculation is getting out of control and it's only mid-May  :police:

If he ended up at either LA or NY they will be trading him to NO. This is just buzz because Rachel Nichols said Zion looked like he'd been hit by a truck when NO was announced as the first pick.

He could allow himself to be drafted, sign his rookie contract then develop a strain of the "Hellenic Flu" that could only be cured by a trade to NY or LA...

so lonzo ball didn't force his way to LA by not working out for anyone? Josh Jackson didn't make ainge fly to Sacramento only to have to do back without seeing the workout?

Davis didn't have half the coverage or hype Zion has had. Again incomparable.

Kobe had less hype than both, as he was a somewhat unknown coming out of high school. Even more uncomparable

He'd be an idiot to do that.

NOP will be the best young team in the league next year, especially if they trade Davis. And if they don't, why wouldn't you want to play along a top 5 player???
