Joe Johnson trade. Gaston family made a short sited trade to cash in on some playoff games before selling the team. Of course they didn't even sign Rodney Rogers. A lottery pick for a rental player. Just awful

The Vin Baker trade should be an option as well. Another money saving move for the Gaston family that set the franchise back for years.

There was Danny Ainge for Ed Pinckney and Kleine.

For me worst is Joe Johnson...because Suns wanted Kedrick Brown and C's forced them to take Joe instead...

Paul Westphal trade is second...Paul Silas trade third

JSD is right.  Celtics willingly took on possibly the worst contract in basketball at the time.  Just awful.

Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic got to be up there too, or at least one of the suddenly weird ones.
Krstic gone, and Green missed out on our pivotal 2012 run season. Green became irrelevant eventually.

Man, it would be nice to have a big like Krstic right about now lol.

Hands down the JJ trade.

Trade a multiple time all star for a season rental of Rodgers and Delk.

Had we re-signed Rodgers, it would have been slightly better, letting him walk (to the nets, our biggest rivals at the time was suicide)

Taking away Richard Jefferson from the Nets and adding him to our team. Even without trading JJ for RR and Delk I think we make the ECF that year, or even make the finals, staying put. Either RJ or JJ could have started and the other could have been a great 6th man....especially in year 2.
Richard Jefferson, served the Nets very well, even as a rookie, averaged 10ppg that season and then had ppg averages of 16,19,23.
Had Wallace drafted properly in 2001 we should have walked away with Richard Jefferson at #11. Along with Joe Johnson at #10(let's forget Forte at #21 ). Most people thought BPA after JJ was either Richard Jefferson or maybe Troy Murphey.

I went with the Westphal trade, because unlike the others, it potentially cost us some rings.

I went with the Joe Johnson trade, where the C's also sent out a first rounder, which wound up being #22 in a draft where Tayhsaun Prince went #23 and Carlos Boozer went #34.

For 27 games of Rodney Rogers and 89 games of Tony Delk.

see the Pitino era, worst GM ever.  Traded away Chauncey and Joe Johnson for nothing.

Just the obvious: Westphal made five straight all-star teams with the Suns, and averaged 21 points and 5 assists there.  The Celtics won a title in '76, but could have had more.

Red made some questionable deals in that '75 - '76 time period. The Westphal trade and moving on from Silas for Curtis Rowe were both horrible transactions. Luckily the failures didn't make Red gun shy about the moves that helped build the 80s teams.
