The Sacramento Kings announce they have waived center Deyonta Davis. He was acquired with Ben McLemore in the trade with Memphis for Garrett Temple.

Was he the one that suppose to be a lottery pick then drop to second round?

Yup projected first round, the one Memphis selected with the 2016 #31 pick acquired from the C's.

I can't believe they gave us a first rounder for him. If Butler or Kawhi ends up on the Clippers, we would be looking at a pick in the high teens/early 20s. Not bad for a draft where we had to make a trade
I'm bitter.

Adrian Wojnarowski

Sources with @ianbegley: Knicks center Joakim Noah has no traction on an open roster spot elsewhere in NBA, so he’s remained unwilling to agree to a buyout. New York simply waiving and stretching the $38M owed him likely comes soon.

Richard Jefferson retired over the weekend. Must've just been hanging on for the challenge of carrying LeBron every year  ;)

Kinda surprised to learn he never actually made an All-Star team, he had star-caliber numbers from about 03-08.

Looks like Myles Turner just got a 4 year/$80 million contract extension, per Shams.

That's like Terry Rozier money!

If I’m the Pacers I like that deal for Turner. He’s still only 22 and is yet to make the jump into borderline All-Star big that I think he’s capable of, but if he does $20m a year is a steal
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Sure, but he also regressed from year 2 to year 3 and his current value is worth no where near 20 million a year, so he had better improve or the Pacers will regret the contract.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I don't think he really regressed, he just got hurt and got less minutes while McMillan tried to figure out a) how to run their offence without PG13 (an issue that solved itself quickly) and b) how to get Turner, Sabonis and Thad Young to coexist.
I think when his minutes return to 30+ he'll average around 15/8/2.5

Small market teams gotta pay small market premiums to keep their guys. I think it's at least fair to say Turner has $20 million talent, but whether he gets there, and whether his red flags for health catch up to him, are gonna be the big question.

Larry Nance Jr. also just signed a 4 yr/$45 million extension. Seems like decent value for a young role player type.

ESPN has it at 4yr/72M that can rise to 80M with incentives.

Yeah, Nance is a good signing.  Turner certainly has more potential than Nance, but I don't see it as nearly double.  Something like 4 years, 60-65 million seemed about right for Turner.  Small markets may have to pay a premium, but they can't overpay either as it kills their flexibility if they get it wrong and they can't really make it up.

He averaged over 28 mpg last year.  It wasn't like he barely played.  His per minute production was down basically across the board (not significantly down, but still down).  That generally isn't a good sign for a player going from year 2 to year 3, especially when all of the cumulative stats were also down i.e. BPM, VORP, PER, ORTG, DRTG, etc.  The one positive was nearly doubling his 3 point attempts and increasing his 3 PT%.

Turner has potential no question and if he lives up to it, then his contract won't be a killer, but there are clear signs that he may not live up to his potential and if he doesn't, the Pacers have seriously overpaid and that could be devastating to them from a cap perspective.
