Insomnia with Al Pacino and Robin Williams. One of my favorite movies. Pacino was brilliant as the tragic hero detective suffering from insomnia.

My son and I went to see Shazam last night, and we both thought it was fantastic. We'll be seeing it again this weekend with the rest of our family.

Native Son, on HBO.

That's the second classic they've butchered recently, along with Fahrenheit 451.

Yeah, it is very good. It captures the feel of the comic while being a very entertaining film in its own right.

The lightheartedness and humor also feels honest, a natural extension of the material. Too many of these superhero movies have become forced quasi-comedies.

Really amazing. The rock climbing stuff is as awesome is its reputation but it's also a well made character portrait of this guy and what makes a person do something like this.

John Wick 3.

To quote Blues Traveler... it’s a bad pl[ot] where the heroes are right, and nobody thinks or expects too much.

It’s basically got no plot, existing solely to set up John Wick 4.  But, that’s pretty much expected going in. The choreography and visuals were mostly awesome, although the special effects got sloppy in parts (I.e., glass shattering before people were thrown through it).  Also, I was surprised by the especially bad acting by one key character (no, not Halle Berry or Keanu).

But overall, it was entertaining enough. Not as good as the second one, but still worth the spectacle.

Agreed. It's a great rock climbing movie, but also just a brilliantly done documentary.

And if you liked Free Solo, I highly suggest Dawn Wall (on Netflix). To sum it up, Tommy Caldwell has lived a legitimately insane life
I'm bitter.

The Kid who Would be King. Neat and tidy kids movie that ticks all the generic hero's journey boxes, and is fun if you don't want to think about it too much. Over the top with the characters' constant name dropping of characters from Blockbusters like LoTR.

Dont watch Cold Pursuit.  It was awful!!
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Saw the latest Hellboy movie. It's like Hellboy one and two stories merged. I didn't like it. Unique characters, some world building, light humor and a touch of horror are what needs to drive the franchise and all were sub par. Feels like how Blade franchise fell apart.

saw:
- Night School.  not as bad as I expected.  killed some time.  Tiffany Haddish continues to grow on me.
- The Upside.  very good movie.  Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart were really good -- some good chemistry between them on screen.
- rewatched Kelly's Heroes.  still one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies.
