So many bigs after the lottery are intriguing. There have been so many scenarios for my Celtic wet dreams lately.

Cliff Robinson working out like Ben Wallace.
Upshaw working out like Tyson Chandler.
Rakeem Christmas working out like some crappy Ben Wallace.
Bobby Portis working out like Al Horford.
Kaminsky playing some decent defense.
Christian Wood ending up like a boss.
Myles Turner ends up like a sweet shooting Roy Hibbert.
Moussa Diagne not busting.

They will probably all end up sucking but each provide their intrigue.

Maybe that guy who said we should trade down is right. Draft all the bigs and play 3-4 big men at a time.

Upshaw is the guy we should look into the most out of those bigs... you just don't lead the NCAA in blocks and just fall into obscurity behind "higher upside" players. Dude can swat some shots man, hopefully he's available in the second round.
He got kicked off of two different teams in college. We currently have a core of young hard working guys, adding a guy who could mess up chemistry at this point in our development isn't a bad idea.

Dude, what kind of ego is this guy really going to bring to a locker room of tested pros? Especially, if drafted in the second round... he's not going strut into the Garden thinking he's Demarcus ****' Cousins.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Now that Poeltl is staying in school, I think our options will be:

Myles Turner
Jerian Grant
Trey Lyles
Bobby Portis

Of all these guys, I think Jerian Grant is the most NBA ready
We are really overplaying  AB, Smart and IT. I would like to add another pg/sg .  I see James Young as a future sf

Some players we could bring in

At 16- booker,payne
At 28- dunn, wright, levert

At 45- Harvey

I'd like Grant or Payne ahead of Booker, but Levert or Dunn would be great too.
I think at 16 our most likely 'snag' would be Jerian Grant in that guard rotation. I think he could pretty much come in straight away and be a beast.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I like Booker at 16, that kid has a jimmy.

That's not too bad actually, did you see Hassan's numbers this year?

I'll take it.

Grant imo is a goner by 14.  But yeah if available , would be a good pickup.

Dunn's not lasting that late IF he declares. He needs some work on his game and might return to Providence, but he's 13th according to DraftExpress and 19th according to Chad Ford. I saw a lot of him this season and he seems to have good pro potential. I also think we need another PG if we don't trade up for a big and Dunn can score.

With the 4 picks I'm hoping DA can combine then into two picks this draft. One SF and one big.

My ideal would be a trade up for Poetlt then Hollis-Jefferson or J Anderson in the late first

other options

Dekker and Harrell

Lyles and Hollis-Jefferson

I'm not expecting both rookie to contribute next season. Like Smart and Young I would hope that one is more NBA ready and the other a longer term developmental project.

For speculation sake if Draft Express's mock holds true and DA keeps all four picks with no trading up. My draft would be,

#16 Lyles (long term project, could be more complete PF then KO or Sully)

#28 J Anderson (NBA ready 3-D wing)

#33 D Johnson (toss up with Upshaw, younger and better post game rare back to basket scorer)

#45 Andrew Harrison (dont think he is a high end prospect but late in the 2nd seems like a nice option as a versatile 4th guard)

..... unexpectedly UK heavy

Poetlt staying in school killed my ideal situation but I think he will be in play for the Cs in 2016.

I was looking at past draft precedent for teams moving up and last years draft had the following deal,

Nuggets traded #11 + A Randolph (was cut)

To

Bulls for #16, #19 and 2015 2nd

This year the Pacers are slated to have the 11th pick and could be one of the few teams better served trading down. The pacers are in flux at every position except SF. If they decide PG is a position they want to target a trade down for Grant, Dunn, Payne or Jones may be in order.

The Cs may be able to combine #16, #28 and #33 to move up if they like who is available at #11.

I wouldn't put much weight on NBA readiness.  We need to pick BPA with focus on potential.

oh I agree. I'm all about BPA, I just think Grant is the BPA and has even more potential.

That defense by Portis.
I think this is the biggest argument for Portis. I believe within a few years he would be far and away our best big man defender of the pick and roll.

If he ends up having 3 point range at the NBA level then I think he would be a steal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Basketball Insiders has the Celtics taking in the first round...

16 - Rondae Hollis-Jefferson SF 20 years old; 6'7"; 212 lbs. Arizona, Sophomore

28 - Timothe Luwawu SG 19 years old; 6'7"; 205 lbs. Antibes, International

I would not be mad at that...RHJ is a good player and Luwawu could be a "draft and stash".

Luwawu actually looks intriguing, of course, based on highlights and the write up:

I'm not a big fan of draft-n-stash because, honestly, how many of those guys are ever really worth the wait.  However, if there's ever been a team with excess picks to use for exactly that kind of player, it's us.

I think 16 is too early for Hollis Jefferson unless he can develop a jumper and I think we should wait until the second round for draft and stash.
