The latest from the Ron-Ron show: he's decided to change his name. OK, so technically he wants to go by his middle name of William. The thinking? Since Ron Artest is back to getting so much negative media coverage, maybe going by Bill - as he requested to be called - could give him a fresh start. Never a dull moment...

William Artest?
Will Artest?
Willy Artest?
Bill Artest?
Billy Artest?

Lol, I don't know Artest, I think you should just stick with Ron.  If looking for a change why not go with Ronald instead?  Never a dull moment indeed.

The last guy who changed his name for image reasons was J.R. Rider.  He was known as J.R. in college, then when he got to the pros he asked to be called Isaiah, and we all know how well that worked out.  Just stick with Ron.  Most people know athletes by their last name only so as long as Artest is still his last name, people know there is some craziness going on there.

Ok I don't really know if Rider was the last person to do it, but I can't think of anybody else (not including guys like Chris Jackson/Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and Brian Williams/Bison Dele because they changed their names for religious/cultural reasons I think).

  • Hinrich sucks, Deng sucks, Bulls suck, I'm out.
You can always rely on Ron (Will) Artest to pep things up durring a slow off season. And now we share the same first name. awesome.

edit: hey bdm, don't forget Fredrick Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr... you know, (in the voice of Bill Walton) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar!

Let's all name ourselves names like Rajon Rondo, and Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, Big Baby, etc.

We could all look like celebrities when people call you by your full name.

I know this guy named Jeff that hates his name, and would change it if he wasn't so lazy.

It seriously should be Giant Artest for his name.

It's better than Bison Dele.

the basketball player formerly known as ron....

i hope this is more than a cosmetic move to evade negative publicity. if so, then being called "bill" wont magically change his behavior and he should expect similar results if he keeps up wth similar actions.

if, instead, "bill" is really focused on changing his attitude, his approach to others, and the way he handles anger....

then heck, i think it is a great idea. good luck to him.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
