Mike Gorman on the pre-game just before the game started said Hayward was already taking jumpers regularly and it wouldn't surprise him to see him back in early December in excellent shape.

Apparently he was participating in the pregame ahootaround, no cast on his hand, shooting the ball, even dribbling it with his left. They showed a video, I'm not making this up.

I am as ecstatic as anyone, but I hope Hayward doesn't rush his body back. The last thing we need is a recurring hand injury on one of our most important offensive players.

They said the timetable hasn't changed.  Still sometime around Christmas.

I don't think the team will rush him back if there is increased risk of an additional break. AFAIK he'll still have the plate in his hand the rest of this season so you'd hope that would protect that bone.

I am more optimistic. I expect we will see him by the time we play Philly on Dec.12.

Before Hayward broke his hand he was scoring at a 19.0 point clip. More importantly he was shooting at .555%. The team was really beginning to click.

He's also one of the best passers on this team. He defends well, he rebounds well too. He doesn't need the ball in his hands to be valuable, meaning he plays well with others. That point alone is huge on this Celtic team.

The player(s) that have taken his minutes and shots are not anywhere near as efficient as Gordon. That's the reason we are struggling.

The Celtics are one of the worst shooting teams percentage wise in the NBA. We have the players with the worst shooting percentages taking the most shots each game.

So yes, get well and come back soon Gordon, this team certainly misses you.

I was watching him... He want even catch a pass with two hands yet...  December 12th is dangerous.   But I like your style, and hope you are right.  And more importantly he does not re injure it.

So six weeks is 19 games missed.

vs DAL 11/11 (WIN 116-106)
vs WAS 11/13 (WIN 140-133) (No RWIII or Theis)
@ GSW 11/15 (WIN 105-100)
@ SAC 11/17 (LOSS 99-100)
@ PHO 11/18 (WIN 99-85)
@ LAC 11/20 (LOSS 104-107)
@ DEN 11/22 (LOSS 92-96)
vs SAC 11/25 (WIN 103-102) (No Kemba or Theis)
vs BRK 11/27 (WIN 121-110)
@ BRK 11/29
@NYK 12/1
vs MIA 12/4
vs DEN 12/6
vs CLE 12/9
@ IND 12/11
vs PHI 12/12
@ DAL 12/18
vs DET 12/20
vs CHA 12/22
(6 weeks from this Monday, Dec 23)
@ TOR 12/25

What do people think a reasonable expectation  is for the C's in that window?

Nine down, ten (or fewer) to go, 6-3 without Hayward.

Thirteen down, 6 (or fewer) to go, 9-4 without Hayward.

Officially in Hayward return watch  territory with Monday marking 4 weeks since surgery, my guess is he returns @Dallas after the weirdly long break between the 12th and 18th.

Let's hope it's fewer than 6! Would love to see him back for Philly but I agree it's probably a bridge too far. The Dallas game seems more realistic.
