Derozan to the Bulls, 3 years at $85m in a sign and trade for Thad Young + picks.

I suspect it includes Markkanen also.  Thad Young at $14M is not enough to trade for DeRozan at $28M I don't think.

Didn't they have cap space.  TPE as well maybe.

The official deal being reported is Thad Young ($14m), Al-Farouq Aminu ($10.1m), 1st round pick, and a 2 2nd round picks for Derozan. Solid haul for San Antonio.

OK, Amino and a pick instead of Markkanen.  I wonder if it was SAS that did want Markkanen or Chicago that was pushing the deal this way (Aminu allows them to shed more salary).  Markkanen would be a multi-year deal where as Young and Aminu are 1 year deals and the pick should be decent.  Maybe SAS said only one year deals.  Where have I heard that before.

Here's a list of the free agents that the Celtics have signed so far:

I will quibble with this a little. Jason Tatum is on the first year of his max contract. A pretty nice signing. We just did the deal months ago.

Oh, was Tatum a free agent?

I'll modify my list:

Extended Tatum some months ago...

- Rodney Hood to Milwaukee.
- Taj Gibson stays with Knicks on vet's minimum.
- James Johnson to Brooklyn Nets.
- ex-celtic Abdel Nader signs two years with Suns $4mil.
- Tony Snell goes to Blazers
- Terrence Davis joins Kings

T.Davis or T.Snell would've been nice on the Celtics as 3rd string wing depth. Taj Gibson a good alternative to Kanter since he can play defense in the playoffs.

James Johnson is a nice pickup for Brooklyn. I could see him playing center. Maybe somewhat similar role to Draymond Green in terms of defender / passer on offense. James Johnson could be sneaky good on that team.

I read that they wanted Markkanen, but his asking price was too high so they moved onto Zach Collins.

I wonder how he feels knowing he declined a 4 year, $84m extension from the Lakers. I'd be shocked if he recouped that value at this point.

Happens to one player every year it seems like.  I remember Nerlens Noel turned down a 4-year, $70 million contract and went onto make $15 million over that same 4-year period.
