Rather than Satoransky, we should be the team that is after Lonzo Ball.
Only way to get him would be through S&T, thus hard-capping us, wouldn't it?

He makes about 9 million a year, it wouldn't be that hard. We have several players we could trade to make that work, especially when we have  a new GM who according to our owner is expected to make significant changes. Acquiring a point guard who makes MLE money is not a difficult thing to do.

What he makes now is irrelevant.

So, we can do a sign and trade, but we would need consent from both Ball and NO. It is safe to say that Ball will field offers first. We will find out what his salary will be soon. NO will not be in a position where they have to compromise, so don't expect this to cost a second rounder, either.

Chances are this will be quite expensive.

Chicago isn't going to cut Satoransky, but if the timing is right and they have a commitment from Lonzo they may dump him into a team's space, or the Hayward TPE, for relatively little to clear the space. Taking back that contract without clearing TT's salary from the books creates tax problems, though.

Lonzo's likely a non-starter. You have to match salaries in a S&T after winning the bidding war for him, and what you send back to New Orleans has to be worth their time enough to justify them taking on the $20 million or so in salary instead of the extra space to operate. And then you're hard capped and it's more difficult to make bigger trades. Just doesn't make sense unless you think Lonzo wins you a title without further major adds.

Satoransky is only due half of his salary if he's cut that's why I mentioned the possibility.

Further, it fully guarantees August 1st, before the Bulls are likely to have gotten a commitment from an RFA like Ball.  I don’t think they’re going to keep Sato.  The most likely outcome is they stretch him so he only counts $1.67 million against this year’s cap.  He’s overpriced at $10 million, so no one will want him in a trade, but given his deal is only partially guaranteed, it’s not worth paying the pick to move him.

Yeah, I think he'll be available and he'd be a good bench guy for us.

Hey, if Boston can get him with the tax mid-level then no complaints from me. I just think they'll be able to get a second-rounder or something for him if they need to dump his deal.
