I will say I’m surprised that Cassell reportedly didn’t get a look. Thought he also was an ideal candidate and checked a lot of boxes.

Udoka is better looking, ha.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Idiot.

You can chalk that up to a basketball media that goes back only to Michael Jordan, much less Magic and Larry.

Bill Russell and the Celtics dynasty teams of the 50s and 60s  the current media never heard of. Imagine winning 10? Titles in a row. Some of us have been spoiled by that experience. Russell was the first African American head coach of the '69 Champion Celtics  in any major sport.

WEEI, by the way, got it right. Udoka was one of the five possibilities they mentioned, which I posted here somewhere a couple of days ago.  He'll be good.
Even so, how'd he miss Doc?

Hive mentality where the groupthink narrative must be maintained at all costs. This is why being aware of history is vitally important. As for Udoka, I don't know much about him which means a clean slate and no expectation hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Will be interesting to see how he fills out his staff. Would love to see some former head coaching experience as an assistant to help him out, too. He assuredly has lots of contacts given his coaching experience in the league.

I hope he doesn't hire Brett Brown lol

If he wants to bring some of the Spurs guys... I'm good with that

As we all saw this year Brett Brown was not the problem with the Sixers, Ben Simmons is.......

Is it really just Simmons?

When Celts beat the 76ers in the playoffs he was MIA

Something weird with that team

Even lucky charm Danny Green couldnt help them

Great choice. Ticks pretty much all the boxes and already has a relationship with the Jays and Smartacus.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I'm happy with this hire. Just soooooo glad it wasn't someone like Jason Kidd or Marc Jackson. I hate when teams hire retreads.

Yeah Smart isn’t being traded... not expecting much more this off-season outside of cleaning up the end of the bench, possibly moving TT, resigning Fournier, and signing another MLE player.

Summer 2022 is where the next big domino falls.

I am excited to see this year's team.

I wonder who he picks for his staff.

I didn’t know he went to Bill Russell and KC Jones alma mater, San Francisco!

Does not look like he played much though. It’s amazing that he made it to the NBA at all.

The Dons getting 3 Celtics coaches and he’s from the Pop tree is an interesting story though. Hopefully he succeeds! Brad seems confident in his choice to be so decisive.

In the 40s and early 50s, USF was a major basketball and football power. I believe Bear Bryant invited them to play a game against  U. Alabama  in Alabama when he wanted to integrate the Alabama football team.

Russell and KC played on the same champion basketball team at USF. Bill was also a world class high jumper there.

Phil Woolpert a highly respected coach back in those yrs, back to back undefeated champs with KC and Bill.   Also had good teams in the 80's Bill Cartright and some others back when Depaul was also good.

Yup, appears to be giant example of groupthink....along with the shallowness that social media lends itself too....short attention span of modern society, and on and on.

Anyway, forgiven Jay, but this was a doozy.  Doc's gonna ride you...

I think this is bad enough that an apology for erring on such a large scale may be due....

Good luck to Ime!
