Can someone talk me out of Marcus Garrett at 45? I think my Payton Pritchard love from last year is coloring my draft vision!   :o

I would love to see Marcus Garrett in Waters's two spot if he doesn't get drafted.

Thought you'd be into a different Marcus if your blinded by Pritchard love - that being Marcus Zegarowski. Really similar prospect

Celts should give this guy a workout

Duncan Robinson esque (from highlights). 43 percent from 3. Also 6'7. High release

High release? His jumper is almost a set-shot. I like how square everything is to the rim though - very Klay-esque in how his shoulders, hips, knees and feet all point to the hoop.

I'd like him to stay another year in college, but he just shot 50/40/90 so who knows. Given so many guys of his profile (sniping tall wing with so-so athleticism) get overlooked for a few years it'd surprise me if he got picked up soon. Still only 20. Cool to see Korean player get onto the scene

I wont be suprised to see the Cs pre-draft negotiate with a few players to except a 2-way if they are available at #45. Last year Tyler Bey and Saban Lee excepted 2-way deals in the 30s and in 2019 Bol Bol did at #44. This will keep a roster spot free and allow the Cs to gamble on more of a project at #45 (Bagely, Primo, Todd)

That's a pennywise, pound foolish approach, so I would hope not.  Much better to pick the best prospect than the guy who's willing to sign a 2-way to get drafted.  If they need a roster spot, certainly there is a team willing to be paid $1.5-$2 million to take on Carsen Edwards for a season.

I agree talent needs to take priority but at #45 some higher ranked prospects may be willing to negotiate a safety net at #45. Last year Tyler Bey was projected as a potential 1st round pick but was still willing to sign a 2-way. For a player like Bagely or Todd who are projected all over the draft board accepting a 2-way maybe a way to secure your draft position. I imagine teams talk about this with agents prior to workouts and then call prior to drafting to finalize that they are being drafted to a 2-way.

I don't think Tyler Bey's agent actually viewed him as a 1st round talent if they were willing to agree to a 2-way in the early 2nd, so I'm not sure we should go off media projections in this case.

The simple matter is, if you're drafting a guy in part because he works for a contract, that means you're leaving someone on the board who you like more but couldn't get on a 2-way.  Even for mid-2nds, that's shortsighted.  The savings are marginal at best for 2-ways, since their service clock starts and their first NBA deal starts at 2nd year player money, not rookie money, which is a big spike.

Why celtics did not invite him for work-out.

He’s an older centre with no shooting range and can’t pass. That’s probably why

Not every workout gets leaked to media.

Sims seems to have made some noise at the combine with his Dwight Howard like measurements and athletic testing. I suspect he gets drafted in the late 2nd to a team looking to develop him as a backup. I'm not a fan of his fit on the Cs roster with Moses likely taking the bench spot as a project big.

not really relevant to draft workouts but it will be interesting to speculate how much Damon Stoudemire is used as a sounding board for some of these draft prospects. His college team played Gonzaga twice but all of their prospects are likely gone before #45 (maybe Ayayi is still available), they also played Pepperdine with Kessler Edwards. On 1/21/21 Pacific lost 68-85 to Pepperdine and Edwards went off for 37pts 11rb on 11-18shooting and 6-9 from 3. His is basically the same size Tatum was coming out of college and appears to play more of a stretch 4 role in college but at #45 a his size and shot are intriguing.

Stoudamire is 5'10". The more interesting question, to me, is whether he will be partial to small guards, and continue the Danny Ainge infatuation.

I think this would be beyond something he has a strong voice in.  Stevens is in charge of personnel now, and I can’t imagine that an assistant coach will have a much say on player acquisition.
