It's a full roster we already need to find a spot for Bird. Who would you drop for him and Bird?

Trade Morris for a cap clearing 2nd rounder. Roster space and avoid the LT this season.
ainge said he’s going to pay tax. We aren’t trading our only good  bench wing for a 2nd rounder

as far as I know vonleh is no longer with the bulls and is a free agent. he's still only 22 years old, can defend and shoot. could he be a brad stevens reclamation project? wouldn't think it would cost too much to get him.

Can he actually shoot? I still haven't seen it yet from him. He can defend and rebound though.

This needs to stop, he hasn't said that. He has said "we are planning for being a tax payer". Given we will be at the border of the tax this year at best, he has to plan for it. That does not mean we will be a tax payer.
As always with Danny, it's the subtlety of his words that is important, we shouldn't jump to absolutes from them.

But why pay the tax, and take another step towards the repeater, if we don't have to? Especially since there are only so many minutes and Morris has already said he is not sure how he fits in.

Actually that's not the trade at all. The trade is to cut money and free up some minutes. Right now semi ojeleye has no place to get minutes.

Plus, he's from Haverhill isn't he?
Yes, but that isn't why I'd bring him in.  Why I'd do it is they need to start thinking beyond Horford who can opt out as soon as next summer.  Would also help to have a little bit of (potential) cover should he get hurt.

1. You can rest assured Horford is not opting out after next year from a $30 million a year contract at the age of 33. He would never get that on the open market.

2. If we want some to cover for Horford if he is hurt, Baynes and Morris are ridiculously better options to replace him.

3. The Celtics just drafted Williams in the draft and have Yabu and Semi. They aren't going to trade or release players to open a spot to develop Vonleh when they are already trying develop 3 other young players and are going to try to win it all at the same time.

I agree with points 2 and 3. On a side note, the question isn't whether or not Horford could get 30 million next year. The question would be what would make him the most money over the rest of his career (assuming he is trying to maximize his earning potential).

What if he deals with injuries or a downtick in production in 2018-2019. Does he suddenly become more of a role player? In that case, is he able to make 60 million (15 million a year) in years 34-37, for a total of 90 million over the rest of his career? Maybe, but I doubt it.

In that case, maybe he would want to opt-out and sign a 4 year, 80 million dollar deal. for age 33-36 seasons. This helps the Cs and Horford.

That 2014 draft, other than Embiid, was really bereft of stars.

Most drafts only have 1 or 2 stars.  2014 was a solid draft.  Jokic would probably go 2nd in a 2014 redraft.
