Jaylen's finishing has been excellent in these last two games.  Lots of shots from funky little angles and he's canning them.

Tatum needs to simplify his game a bit. Get better angles. He still tries to use his size like in college.

Brown's looked really good though.

Loving Jaylen so far (obviously) and his hard work is really paying off. He was never the natural basketball player that Tatum was coming into the league, but his athleticism always gave him the potential to be great. I remember people questioning whether or not he had his priorities in check when he entered the league (because of outside academics and such). It's just great to see him as such a dynamic offensive (and defensive) force!

Kanter is rendering himself unplayable with his defense today.  He'll never be a stopper, but we need him to be better than this if he's going to see the court.

You need someone to cover for his defense, I think everybody knows that. Kanter had his best seasons in Oklahoma City and New York, where he always had Ibaka or Adams and Porzingis to bring the necessary help and rim protection.

Playing a system of four guards/wings + Kanter is suicide. That will be lay-up after lay-up, you can't outscore that.
You need a guy to add that interior defense and let Kanter focus on beasting on the boards and scoring in the post, he's one of the best in the league at that. Kanter is a specialist, just like JJ Redick. Players who can bring something extra, but you know you have to be careful with whom you place them on the court.

For the whole season Grant Williams has been his buddy against other bench units and they have done a great job at that. When everybody is healthy I'd like to see either Theis or Robert Williams also get some run with Kanter.

So far I like the game a lot more than against OKC.

Grant Williams playing very well, his screens work fluently in the offense.

Cbs is going to live or die with small ball.

I got excited about Grant Williams then I noticed he went in at Center.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

While I agree that his teammates can help hide him, that doesn't absolve him of his responsibilities.  He still has a job to do on defense.  Today, he's getting shredded in isolation and he's also out of position in the team defense.  He has to be better.

Tatum needs to drive that.

And since I've been critical of Kanter today, I also want to give him credit when he does something well.  His seal on the interior just got Tatum a free dunk.

He's out there for a reason.  But we do need him to contribute to the defense, even if he's never a plus on that end.

So I just started watching the Suns game, are we playing better than the game against OKC or is the competition just worse?

Little of both.  Guys are hitting shots today that they were missing against OKC.  But our focus has been in-and-out, especially on defense.
