At home all alone on a break? I’d be disappointed if he didn’t do something to get the fans up. I’m just mad at how easy he made that 360 look.

I hope the NBA doesn’t change him. We need him in dunk contests and putting on a show. His athleticism is not that of an elite professional athlete, it’s something higher.

In an era where we see little more than excessive 3PA (complete with dancing and posing and celebrations after nearly every made one) and whistles, I love me some thunderous dunks.

Zion is ready for the NBA, but is the NBA ready for Zion?

All aboard.

I could care less what people think, that dunk was nasty. The only time I think that showboat dunks are stupid is when somebody on a team getting blown out does them.

We know he can dunk, but will he ever be able to shoot?
Without a shot I am afraid he won't justify the top pick in the long run.

Agreed -- I don't think he is the #1 pick. I am shocked at how Zion has become the unanimous #1 guy. Zion will not be able to dominate at the NBA level as an undersized center without a quality jump-shot with legit range. He has shown no capacity to develop that shot. He is too high a risk at #1.

RJ Barrett should be taken #1. Not Zion.

Is that a hard dunk to do? I mean it’s rare but is it athletically difficult for nba players? It doesn’t seem that hard but maybe it’s decievingly hard

It takes a lot of vertical to hang in the air and body control to turn.   I could barely do it when I was young, and I had the average PF height and vertical of today.   So would say that at least half in the NBA could do it as many are way more athletic than I was.  But yes, it is a harder dunk.  I could dunk it off the cuff, and hang from my elbow from the rim.   So that ought to give an idea of what I could do.   But I could not dunk it from the line and my 360 was more of a 340.  So yes, it was hard to do and that was over 30 years ago.

I think he is #1 now because of the hype and that can fill arenas.

He's going to hurt some poor souls that try to block his dunks in the NBA.

Physicality-wise not many Bigs will be able to stop his drives.

Dunk stoppers? Embiid...Jerome Allen from BKN...maybe Whiteside? Steve Adams?

Gobert and Capela - while great shot blockers - lack the strength to stop his dunks.

How does he compare to Julius Randle?
He makes Julius Randle look about as athletic as an elderly pig. So much faster both laterally and in terms of straight line speed, and the jumping ability and in-air control are worlds apart

So on a break by himself in a blowout, he brings out the tricks.  the crowd obviously loved it, but on some level isn't disrespectful to Clemson to do that.  I'm torn as I really don't know what to think.

Thoughts?

Come on Moranis. What do you think of Beethoven showing off? Or Einstein Or Tesla. Or Jordan what a show off.

If you had that ability would you lay it up soft. I hope not.
.
Are they competing against others and just pouring it on for no one reason or are they doing it by themselves?  If this was a dunk contest then no problem at all with it.  Here's the question, if Duke was losing with a minute left, does he do that dunk or does he just do a regular dunk?  If the answer is a regular dunk then what he did was showing up the opposing team and it is disrespectful.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

He's not going to dominate as point guard either, but that's ok because he's not a point guard.  He's a wing.  His ability to get to the rim from the perimeter is his most impressive skill.

If you don’t want Zion to do that to you then maybe don’t turn the ball over.
