RJ has played very well, not just about points either. Kid's gonna be a player on both ends. 6-6 long arms, good shooter, pretty solid defender too. He needs more minutes to find the rest of his game on offense.
good win. we needed it.
He can't shoot though. Which is crazy bc that was what he was known for
He could be a worse corner 3 shooter vs from way downtown
he can shoot though. the more accurate way to state it is that he hasn't shot well very often on those occasions he's gotten minutes.
He shot very poorly from 3 in his last season at Georgia State (31%), so I think it is a viable concern.
That being said, I honestly don't believe he "can't shoot" either. I think he developed some bad habits in his last year at GA St. trying to carry his team on his back, and he's still working on breaking them, as well as figuring out how to get his shot off in the NBA. My expectation is it might be a bit up and down all season, over the summer he'll work hard on his 3 pt shot, and will be making it rain in Summer League next year. I'd like to see him raise his release point a bit too.
I love RJs game. I think he's going to be our starting SG within the next 2 1/2 seasons.
I agree that he may have developed bad habits last year. He may also still be finding his game, especially at this level. He has shown he car score in a variety of ways... driving, floaters, pull-ups off the dribble and around screens. He's not strictly a spot-up shooter.
Also probably worth considering that (a) his stroke is pretty, (b) he's always been a good FT shooter, and (c) his misses are often
wayy off (i.e., airballs), suggesting it's more mental than physical.
