Celticsblog, after much careful consideration and soul searching, I have come to one undeniable conclusion: the ship is sinking. The Celtics are old news. It's time to face the facts.
The undeniable truth that has become evident to me is that there is only one truly great, storied franchise in the NBA. Only one franchise with all the greatest stars, the grandest achievements, the most exciting moments, the best city, and, of course, the most loyal fans. It's obvious.
That franchise is the Los Angeles Lakers.
After all, the Lakers have been the consistently best team over the history of the league. Sure, they don't have the most championships, but they've been to the Finals far more times than any other team. Isn't that what matters? They've won more games, and they've given their fans more games to watch. Who remembers the 50's and 60's anyway? Lakers fans haven't had to suffer through years of pitiful mediocrity like the Celtics in the 90's and early to mid 2000's. No, the Lakers have pretty much always been great. Indeed, in the past decade or so they've positively dominated, and that's mostly thanks to one great man:
Kobe Bryant, the greatest basketball player ever.
Thanks to Kobe, God's gift to the NBA, there's no such thing as a bandwagon Lakers fan - the Lakers are always great. Lakers fans everywhere can wear their #24 jerseys with pride, regardless of their dedication or actual interest in basketball, because they know they're backing a team that will win a lot of games and entice all the big name free agents, year after year. Furthermore, only Kobe is capable of bringing this kind of excitement to the game of basketball:

Where else can you go to watch a basketball game and get to see a bunch of movie stars with sun glasses on at the same time? I mean, isn't that the whole point of going to a basketball game - to see all the famous people who paid thousands of dollars to sit courtside?! Those movie stars, after all, are the iconic Lakers fans, representative of the whole fan base.
Who wouldn't want to be associated with this guy?
I mean, come on - the Lakers just have an embarrassment of greatness. Even their token white guy is ridiculously good! Plus, his funny looks make for great comic relief!
Seriously, even the guy on the NBA logo is a Laker:
Doesn't that just make it clear? The NBA was made for the Lakers, and fans of the Lakers. Just stop fighting it, and join the NBA royalty, the purple and gold. I know I am.
April Fools!
