Hard pass.

He's 38 years old and didn't play defense when he was young. As for his "pure offense" he shot .415/.331 last year. Do you think he'll be better or worse this season?

For Brad Stevens? On the Celtics? Playing off Horford, Hayward, Irving, Tatum and Brown?

Safe to say those shooting percentages Trend upwards.

He is a static volume scorer who lacks efficiency and does minimal playmaking. He also ranked 521st out of 521 players in defensive real plus-minus last season. He won his last 6th Man award a few years ago mostly on reputation. The last year he was an above average player was 5 years ago. He has had a very good career, but now he is pretty much done as a player.

This.

And the idea that he's going to trend upwards at age 38 seems farfetched to me.

Told that despite some internet chatter to the contrary, the Boston Celtics have not made any sort of contract offer to veteran free agent guard Jamal Crawford. Boston doesn't have an open roster spot, nor a role for Crawford to fill at this time.

Still hope they 'll trade for Rozier.

Let's say Rozier + Yabu + our 2019 first for Mikal Bridges

(or something along those lines)

'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021
