Vastly overpaying players who aren't worth it is how a team gets itself trapped in a cycle of mediocrity. Terrible idea. Robs flexibility if a star becomes available.
Just for comparison.
Jrue Holiday career Per 36.
16.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 1.6 steals, 45 - 35 - 78 splits.
Malcolm Brogdon career Per 36.
16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.6 steals, 48 - 40 - 89 splits.
They look like pretty similar players.
Jrue Holiday will make around $26 million this year, that will be around what Malcolm Brogdon's max will be at the start.
I guess it boils down to how we percieve Brogdon as a player. Maybe he's just a role player to some, I see a quality starting PG in him. Yeah, a bit of an overpay, but to get him, and take him away from the Bucks, I think it's worth paying a little bit more.
