I know he had a horrific injury and is fighting back but it seems to me he is little soft and takes every excuse to miss a game the whole season.   The concussion protocol I can understand but for being sore which he missed a lot of games for, he needs to grow a pair.

Time to play the Gordon Hayward violin.

Such as when exactly? He’s played 64 games this season. Only 5 Celtics have played more. Is Al Horford soft? ::)

Perhaps, pay attention during the season, get out more or learn to google?
Perhaps learn to defend an actual argument that makes sense? You said he’s missed “a lot”’ of games through soreness, when in fact he’s missed 6. In what world is that a lot?

Your criticism is based on nothing and you’re getting on this ridiculously condescending high horse after it was challenged. Give me a break

Yeah, one of the articles was before the start of the season.  I don't really see the relevance to the argument.

Whenever Hayward struggles, I go back and watch YouTube highlights of his games in Utah.

Keeping the hope alive we will get that guy again.  He was so incredibly aggressive, both on offense and defense. A real resolute shot blocker and dunker.

That's why highlights are so misleading.  On a per36 basis Hayward is above his career averages in basically every category.

Sorry guys,  this IS the real Gordon Hayward.

Actually, not quite. Hhe's above his career averages on a per-36 in rebounding and assists but his shooting %s and ppg are well below his previous season averages. The issue is that nobody really notices rebounds and assists, it's scoring that people look for and he's been well below par that this season.

His inconsistency in scoring can be seen in his points distribution. He's got 3 games of 30+ which is more than anyone on the team other than Kyrie with 17. But he also has 32 games where he's scored less than 10 points.

Even on a per-36 basis he only takes the 7th most FGA on the team (excluding Dozier who has only played 4 games).

The reason his stats look better on a per-36 is because he's averaging around 24-25 mpg, including 21mpg in March. If he was playing more minutes at the same efficiency, people would still complain (and rightfully so) but they would probably complain less, because his absolute production would be greater.

I think Hayward has shown enough in the latter half of the season to show that his shooting will be better after the offseason, and he should continue to maintain efficiency in terms of his other contributions (assists and rebounds). But he's not going to be a 25-5-5 player for this team, not the way it's currently constructed and people expecting that will be disappointed. He's just not going to be the focal point of the offense all the time, but there will be times when he will be influential. It's the same way fellow max player Al Horford is not expected to be a 20-10-5 player for the team either. Last year and the year before it was Al's time to be the pinata for underproduction, this year Gordon has taken his place.

I would look in the mirror, and you will see yourself when you say this statement.

That is almost 10% of the games we have played and it was in the news.   If you and I missed 9% of our work, I wager we would be gone.

I want Hayward to do well.  I am a fan of his ever since Butler.

On Utah GH was option 1 and 1A basically.

He’s now recovering from not just an ankle but tib/fib fracture so he’s got a ton of rehab to endure.

Add to that he’s coming off the bench and most nights the 4th or 5th option he’s going to have poor stats.

This dude was/is an All-Star.

Let’s not forget why he was such a coup FA target.

I mean... The "was" part, sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he never makes an all star team again. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if he rebounds and plays great again either but he's been so bad this season and it's not like he was ever more than a fringe all star anyway.
