Heard something on a podcast this morning, forget which one, that Bol Bol is one of the more unpopular individuals in the NBA (presumably with other players).  If true, this could explain things a little.

If ownership isn't going to spend to put a contender together, I want to at least be entertained. I hope they sign him

What is so great about Bol Bol?

* He's only had one season (in 4 years) where he played in over 50% of his games
* He's never averaged more than 22 minutes a game
* His Per-36 numbers are solid, but not mindblowing - there are likely plenty of other bench guys out there who put up similar per minute numbers
* He seems to be a ~25% shooter from three
* In the one single season where he played >40 games and >20 minutes had a -5 net rating and -0.9 box plus/minus

I may be missing something as I haven't actually watched him play, but I really don't see what the hype is (just like I fail to see the dramatic hype in Wembanyama).

If you want to know more about a player, just go to their team or former team's reddit. Most people remember the hot start last season, but Bol was pretty awful afterwards.

Skimming the thread, the consensus is he was a horrible defensive player and the highlight reel plays obscured how poor he was at everything else.

Also makes me think there's some attitude or effort issues involved that we looking from the outside don't know about.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

You don't feel that getting Porzingis makes us a contender?

Magic's defense improved when he was on the court, and he had a TS% of 60%, and he has shown improvement. Also entertainment value of thru the roof
