Just trying to get all of this organized now. Last year we did an open playoffs for the top 16 who signed up. This year you will need to have qualified through the YTD Standings for Totals or Average (minimum 20 games played).
I'll explain how the seeding will be determined below, but for now lets work with the premise that there will be 16 seeds. The Top Seeded player chooses which conference the Odd Numbers will represent. If he chooses the Eastern Conference, the odd numbered seeds will be assigned an Eastern Conference Team equal to their rank:
1=1 EC
3=2 EC
5=3 EC
etc...we'll do a similar system for the evens and the West
2=1 WC
4=2 WC
6=3 WC etc...
(obviously reverse the conferences if the Top Seeded player chooses the Western Conference because he loves the Lakers so much
)
-------------------------------------------------------
The rules for the Playoffs are a bit different so please read through this.
Each player may pick ONLY from the team he is assigned to and may only choose a player once per series.
Picks are due by the scheduled start of YOUR game.
Player averages will be based on regular season numbers (a player must have played a minimum of 10 regular season games). You pick for each game until either one person has clinched the series or the NBA series has ended.
If a player picked has a DNP he will be assigned the lesser of -5 or 5 points worse than the opponents picks.
Whoever is ahead at the end of the NBA series advances. If there is a tie (which will be possible), we will revert to net points for the series. If there is still a tie, we will do the averages to extra decimals as necessary.
Before the series starts the Higher Seeded player gets to pick from the two teams he/she is slotted into for each round.
We will re-seed after each round. Players keep their original seed #'s and are matched up accordingly by Conference with the remaining NBA teams' ranks.
--------------------------------------------------------
We will the combined standings points for the two categories of most points and most ppg (with a minimum of 20 games played).
So, basically the standings for each category would look like the daily scoring, except the first place spot would not be doubled.
if there are 10 players (there will be more)
1st - 10 pts
2nd - 9
3rd - 8 etc...
We do this for both categories, then total them. If there is a tie, preference will go to the player with more total points.
