He’s sure contributed a lot more to the game than Chris Bosh

Ha - this kind-of puts it all into perspective, doesn't it?  :D
sure, but Chris Bosh was a lot better at actually playing the game of basketball.  That is why there are 3 categories i.e. player, coach, and contributor.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

For the Ainge discussion, is anybody in for being good in multiple areas of basketball over a long term, but not great at any?  Hubie Brown is the only name I recognize on the list that I could see that argument for, as he's not listed as being selected as a coach.

Speaking of Contributors, I wonder if any of the NBA on TNT guys ever get in (which Ainge was also briefly a part of).  Feels like Ernie Johnson should definitely get in.  I wouldn't have a problem with Kenny Smith either, but he's more of the Ainge argument, good player in NCAA and pros, 2x champ, but a long successful run as an analyst, a great overall contributor to the game, just not great in any one area).  Guys like Barkley and Shaq, well i feel like "contributor" is more for guys who aren't already in as a player or coach, or else we'd have already seen guys like Jordan, Bird, Jerry West, Pat Riley, etc. in again as contributors.

Same goes for our own Mike Gorman.  Can he make it as a contributor?  Not familiar with all the Hall of Famers, but Chick Hearn and Dick Vitale are the only names I recognize as broadcasters.  Surprised Marv Albert's not there or Johnny Most.

Could Woj or Bill Simmons ever makes it in as contributors.  Woj as a news breaker and Simmons will get credit for ushering in the podcast era.  Maybe, but they're probably 30 years down the line.

And for the memories, here's Ainge as part of the TNT crew:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlW-x-5KCs4

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Ainge should making the hall of fame is more acceptable than all this praise for a probable rapist. ( if you studied the case you prob believe strongly he raped her). League is disgusting right now.
Don't try and derail this thread with an issue you have with someone who is not even alive, who is also unequivocally a top-3 SG of all-time.

Ive seen a note or rule  elsewhere I believe since I posted this so I do apologize if I broke a rule. Ainge is my fave player ever so I’d be happy for him but I think it would be ridiculous. I wasn’t trying to derail the thread though so enough with that .

Does the basketball HOF differentiate between playing career and executive career nominations?  ie; Jerry West would easily make it for both, but is he only allotted one nomina bytion?
You can be enshrined for being a Coach/Player/Contributor separately.

Bill Sharman was inducted as a player in 1976 and as a coach in 2004

Heinsohn's in as a player & a coach also.

Thanks

May as well give him the trifecta with broadcasting too.
Yup
