Let's sign Allen Iverson now.

And waive him 2 minutes later.

As much as I love AI, I don't think he'd be able to catch up with the new breed of point guards today. They are much more bigger and stronger and so much more athletic.
He certainly won't be able to guard shooting guards.
He will be a spot up shooter in this league if anybody wants to sign him.

Allen Iverson would destroy a lot of point guards

At his age of 37? His last "pro" ball was in 2011.
You must be thinking of the 1999 - 2006 Allen Iverson.
It's 2013, young blood.
The only thing Allen Iverson will destroy, is his knees or ankles trying to keep up with the younger kids today.

I don't get it. Tracy McGrady is a very strong ball-handling and playmaking wing but so too is Stephen Jackson. The minor upgrade McGrady gives you there is not worth the major drop-off defensively.

Me either, could be locker room issues?

But I'm glad that Tmac has at least a chance to get a ring.

lol always omitabus

But with the skills that AI still possesses, he would be a decent PG... better than the likes of Jeff Teague or Brandon Jennings.

I don't think so. Those guys are so athletic.

Maybe better than Chris Quinn or Devin Harris. But not Jennings or Teague.

I'm a big AI fan. But he's 37, and he was never a great shooter.

What made him such a great player to watch was the way he would just charge to the rack, get clobbered, and still find a way to get the ball in the hoop for the and-one. He was the fastest, fiercest, most ferocious guy on the court.

Unfortunately trying to play basketball when you're just six feet tall sucks when you don't have the speed and althetic ability to blow past the people who are bigger, stronger, and (now) younger than you. The game has changed, and he's at least ten years away from his prime.

I love the fact that he was never willing to compromise his game and come off the bench for so long. But that's why his career ended the way it did, and that's why I'd prefer it if he stayed off the court (even if he never admits to being retired).
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I don't like his lack of 3 pt shooting on the Spurs.

I understand that he can distribute the ball if Tony Parker is hurt, but if Tony Parker is hurt how far is this team making it anyways?

I'm glad T-mac gets a shot at a ring, but I can't see him doing much more than bench warming in the play-offs.
