He talked about his playing future in an interview with EuroHoops, and mentions a few possible destinations including Boston. He does acknowledge that a lot could depend on other moves that happen this summer with teams (like Kemba in Charlotte, or of course Rozier and Kyrie in Boston, etc.)

I'd love Rubio and I think he'd fit this team perfectly. He'd essentially be a replacement to Rozier coming off the bench and facilitating more for the other top guys. Unlike Rozier who said he "sacrificed his talents to give Kyrie + Hayward shots", Rubio would actually play to his role and his passing would help us a ton.

I think Rubio could fit in any sort of plan. If we lose Kyrie in FA and don't trade for AD, we could sign him to go along with Smart, Brown and someone we draft at the guard position. Or if we keep Kyrie and do trade for AD, we could still sign him since it's likely we lose one or both of Smart/Brown in the trade so we could still use some added guard help.

I'd prefer using the MLE on a rotational big, but if we end up pulling off an AD deal then I wouldn't mind using the MLE on a backup/depth guard like Rubio.

Rubio is miles away from Kyrie in terms of talent, but oddly enough I think he’d be a better fit on this team given his passing and defensive abilities.

Would you prefer Rubio to Rondo, given Rondo is likely to come cheaper?

He is the exact opposite of Kyrie, so surely some here will enjoy him?

Right, and even if we keep Kyrie (and trade for AD), Rubio would fit so much better than Rozier did on this team in the near future. He'd be more than willing to defer to Kyrie than Rozier did (which led to Rozier feeling upset all season).

I'm fine with either. Yes, even Rondo.

I'm all aboard the Rondo train, love that guy. I also think AD would feel more inclined to stay with Rondo, given their past.

I just want the return of Playoff Rondo!!

Always like Ricky, and he would be a nice plan B to Plan Beverly

I still giggle every time I remember Rubio missing badly that wide open 3 from the corner against the Rockets in the 1st round.

You just can't count on Rubio to make an outside in crunch time.

Signing Rubio is not a priority IMO.

Screw it. Bring back Perk too, even if as a coach or "hype man" on the bench!  :P

I'm not completely against the idea as a backup plan but I'd rather see Ainge restructure Horford and use the remaining cap space to upgrade the roster with a trade.

No, but he's an option.

My #1 preference would be to sign Beverley using the MLE btw.

But Rubio is right up there too out of all the potential backup guard options.
