We are very deep at the Center position. I mean, we have Kanter as a 3rd stringer! At the same time, we are worryingly thin at the swing positions. Don't see the point in cutting Jabari for Gasol.

At this point Marc doesn’t do anything better than any of Horford, RW3, or Kanter can. He’d be a nice veteran pick up for the bench and locker room if we were top 2 or 3 in the conference looking for a contending run but we are not.

Wouldn’t mind Gasol but we got 3 centers
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I am surprised with the amount of people that would actually do this.  I think an old, slow, declining center is about the last thing on our needs list.  Definitely would not trade Parker for him.  That makes our weakest position (PF) even weaker.

I have zero interest in Gasol at any trade cost.

why would the Lakers dump Gasol?  Did I miss something?

There has been talk that they might waive Gasol if they pursue DeAndre Jordan after a buyout.

I’m not sure why the Lakers would want Jabari Parker. They are allowed to trade Gasol to any team without taking salary back, as he’s on a minimum contract.

The Lakers waiving Gasol for DaJ is awesome - he's probably their best big outside of AD lol.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Don't they have open roster spots?  All the sites I see have them at only 13 people on the roster and since Gasol's contract is fully guaranteed, I don't see why they would waive him to create room to sign a guy they can sign without waiving Gasol.
