Interesting to see that Bill gave no definite answer, as to which QB will start in game 1

I thought it was a shoe in that Newton was going to start

It’s going to be Cam. He practiced with the first team today and played well. I’d like to see how he performs in a few regular season games and this will also give Mac more time to prepare. Newton deserves the opportunity to start at this point,  but there will be  little room for error.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Once again, Cam plays only half of the first quarter. Went 2-5 for 10 yards and an interception. Mac played 2.5 quarters, completed 10 of 14 passes for 154 yards and a TD.

I don’t understand why Cam played half a quarter in every preseason game. Daniel Jones who also had a rocky season last year played the first half of the game. Newton looked OK in the first preseason game, good in the second, and not great today. Have no idea what to expect from him going into the regular season and Bill has repeatedly stated that He will be starting.

I have a feeling Mac will be take over by week 5. Should be interesting...

Bill doesn't start rookies, but maybe by season's end? He will start Jones.

It really doesn't take much to look better than Cam.

Giants preseason game last night was giving opponent's "film".

Josh gave Cam 5 or 6 impossible pass plays (look at highlights) and then sat him down. That show was for the opposing defensive coordinators.

Regardless of conspiracy theories, Cam is not an effective passer and will have to work hard to disprove that claim.

Every game Jones doesn't play is a gift as far as Bill is concerned:
#1 Flores- Miami
#2 Saleh - Jets
#3 Sean - Saints

These head coaches Know just how to deconstruct a rookie QB...it's their job.

On the topic of Mac...He is a shortish pocket passer. He has to get the ball out as linemen's hands get closer. As he is a rookie, it is difficult to get the ball out quick enough to avoid a 300 pounder landing on you 8 or 9 times a game.

As above? Mac is better than Cam in many ways, but Cam is 6'5" and 245 lbs and can move around a little.

If the team hadn't spent so much on free agents? I'd say this is a tank.

Like most fans I prefer Mac over Cam as he has to get his minutes in eventually, but, if Cam stays healthy, the Patriots will win a lot of ugly games with tough D, excellent game management and a three headed beast of a running game. They have three legit starting RB's plus whoever else hangs on from the rooks.

Lot of 19 to 17 games methinks.

Mac Jones it is... Wow.

They actually did both; they did bring back Cam Newton and they also drafted Mac Jones.  So 19 of the 27 votes are actually correct.  These weren't mutually exclusive options.

It is a big surprise that they cut Newton though.  And also a surprise that a rookie is going to start.
