At least you put a question mark at the end of the headline  ;)

I wouldn't mind one more look at him. The guys a scorer and thats kind of what we need off the bench. Him and Nate in the backcourt would be guaranteed points off the bench, plus bring some nice athleticism.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Has he learned to play defense yet?  If so, he could carve out a niche off the bench defending and shooting from the outside.

But, I doubt it has happened.
With his athleticism he has all the physical tools to play defense. It's just the mental part of the game that alludes him.

I always felt if he got some good one on one coaching and was receptive to it he could turn things around. Hopefully he is able to do it with another team, then sign with us when he is ready.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I [very briefly] watched a Lakers summer league game because he was playing.  Still bites for every fake.  Opponent gets lots of space off of picks.  So...no NBA defense.

Still has a very nice shot, with high release and good range, good length.  Seems to have a knack for dribbling off his leg.  Clearly not an NBA rotation player on a decent team, but could probably still fill it up for a loser.  He'd be worth a flier for a team like New Jersey or NY, but that's about it.

He is like the Wily Mo Pena of basketball in that he is too good for the dleague but not good enough for the NBA and the only way to improve is to play at a developmental level.  Kid should have gone to college or suck it up and go back overseas for a few more years and come back when he is 28.

I know he didn't do much here but he was very young and didn't get the best coaching.  But he's only 24, athletic, and could back up Ray and Paul.

Also very cheap...and sounds like he has matured.

Gerald has consistently been great at sounding like he's matured. If you like this article, I could probably find you another 100 where he says just about exactly the same thing.

Just the mental part of the game?  He makes TA look like a basketball Einstein.

If we are talking make-good contracts to come to camp, I'm o.k. with Gerald, Giddens, and Patrick all getting another month to make a case that they finally "get it."

NO BBIQ = No Good 4 Celtics

I think its fair to say Tony is in the same camp. It took him 3 solid years after Big3 arrival to finally understand the system.

I love Gerald's upside... 5 years ago.  As much as I wanted him to pan out and be the prolific T-Mac scorer he was hyped to be, it just hasn't worked out like that.  The last thing this team needs is a project like Jonathan Bender.  Gerald in 3 games with the Laker's summer league team is only putting up 5 ppg and 2 rpg.  If you want to invite him to camp, I guess you could, but I just don't see it working out either way.  The least he should have been was a guy who could defend quality wings with his length and athleticism, but defense goes hand in hand with maturity and toughness, which he lacks to this point.

EDIT: Some of Gerald's numbers while playing in Europe are pretty solid for what it's worth.
