Okay, here's Miami's best case cap scenario, if their "big three" take max deals:

Lebron: $16.6 million
Bosh:  $16.6 million
Wade:  $16.6 million
Beasley: $5 million
Chalmers: $0.85 million

Cap Hold (x8) = $3.8 million

Joel Anthony: renounced (could re-sign for minimum deal)

With all of the above, the Heat are actually over the cap, at $59.45 million.  That means that to sign Miller, each of the free agents would have to take less, and Beasley would have to be included in a sign-and-trade.

So, this scenario works:

Beasley traded straight up for Miller
Miller signs for $5 million
"Big three" sign for $16 million each

That would bring the Heat to $57.65 million, or very slightly below the cap.

...and still without a point guard to distribute the ball.

Don't need a PG with Lebron; he would be defacto PG. Question is can Wade play off the ball well, with Lebron doing most of the handle. I have my doubts.

Don't necessarily need a traditional PG, but need someone who can hit the 3.  Gotta keep the floor spaced to let LeBron and Wade work.

Chalmers hit 32% last year.  Very streaky, and just not good enough.

Yeah, any PG on that team just needs to defend and hit spot-up jumpers. That's it.

It would be fitting. David Khan.

I assume Miller accepts this... if so its a good start for Miami. They can check "shooter" off the list.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Wouldn't it be nice to see Gilbert halt that play by offering Miller a big deal?

When Cavs renounce LeBron, which I assume is very soon, they'll have $9 million in cap space. Can get to 13M by releasing D. West.

ugh if Shaq signs for the vet min , their roster will look something like this

PG:Chalmers.    /  vet min
SG: Wade.         / Miller
SF: Lebron.       /
PF Bosh.           /
 C: Shaq.           / vet min

That team has some holes still, especially on the defensive end with the big men, but they are getting better quick....

Mike Miller's agent, Arn Tellem, texted that there's been no decision yet. Believed to be Heat, Knicks and Bulls.

I hope the Knicks grab him. Hope he goes anywhere except to the Heat.

The Knicks will surely offer Miller $40-45 million over five years.

How much money is Mike Miller willing to give up?

Mitchell native Mike Miller intends to sign a five-year, $30 million deal with the Miami Heat, sources told KSFY late Thursday night.

Earlier in the night, LeBron James announced his intention to sign with Miami, joining Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade with the Heat.

Miller spent last season with the Washington Wizards.

Ths hurts........now we have to fnd a back up for pierce. Joshcould be nice but with teams throwng moeny around, im not to sure. He also came off a injury. At this point tradng Sheed for a wing player sounds like a good idea. Hey maye we can get Moon from the Cavs seeing how the hate LeBron and the Heat just as much as us! :)

Wow, the Heat just keep getting better and better.

With Shaq and Miller, they have a decent rebounder and a very good shooter off the bench.  They just need some vets who can play defense and hit jumpshots and they're instantly in the top 2 or 3 teams in the league.

The Eastern Conference is going to be a lot more interesting next year...makes this year's 4 best teams look like a joke.

The league just keeps becoming more and more haves vs. have-nots.  Add the Raptors, Cavs, and Suns to the list of teams with practically nothing.  I think the Jazz will find a way to remain somewhat competitive, but they basically fell out of contention too.

Lakers, Thunder, Blazers* in the West.

Heat, Bulls, Celtics*, Magic in the East.

Everybody else just give up now.

Four Fearsome Lineups

(1) Chalmers + Wade + Bron + Bosh + J.Anthony
(2) Wade + Bron + Miller + Bosh + J.Anthony
(3) Chalmers + Wade + Miller + Bron + Bosh
(4) Wade + FA Signing (eg Raja Bell) + Miller + Bron + Bosh

The ability to go to any of those highly effective lineups and either create or eliminate matchup advantages against opponents is extremely valuable. That lineup flexibility is a huge plus in Miami's favour.
