Now that it's clear we're headed for a ridiculous orgy of spending, what do people think Pierce and Allen will end up getting, from Boston or some other team?

I'll weigh in with:

-Paul Pierce 4 years/$65M
-Ray Allen 3 years/$39M

I could like with Ray's contract if that last year was a TO. That's the only way I could stomach a 3 yr deal for him.

If Paul gets a number like that, I would hope it'd be frontloaded to save us some money as we make the transition to the Rondo era.

After what I've seen today, Paul will be getting about a hundred billion dollars a year.

I've said it since last summer so I'm going to stick to it: "Pierce will opt out and sign for 4 years $56 million."

Ray is a little harder to gauge imo, but I think Ainge over pays him for 2 years $28 million.

Edit: I said $56 million last summer so I'll stick to it.

this summer is going to be nuts....

normally i would think:

Pierce: $45/3
Allen: $22/2

However, we might be looking at:

Pierce: $60/4
Allen: $36/3

Thats my prediction. We're making a title run for potentially the next 2 years . (A shortened lockout season could benefit the team in year 2)

This is right, and I don't think it's out of the question that Ray gets 4 too.  It's crazy and it shouldn't be that way; however, it looks like the C's are going to have to go 4 years on Paul, which is somewhat shooting themselves in the foot long term.  What that means is that they sure as hell better do well in the short term to make up for it.  Thus, if some other team offers Ray 4 years, we might as well match.

Though I tend to think 3 is more on par for Ray, I'll say 4 years 70 million for Pierce and 4 years 40 million for Ray.

At this rate I could see both getting 4 years however the first 2 years being frontloaded to provide flexibility when KG's contract is up.

Paul 4/60
Ray 4/45

or first year is vet min for both so we can sign a max guy  :P

I don't think contracts will be as front-loaded as you think.  The whole point of Pierce opting out is so that he can take the money from the year he opted out of and spread that out over what amounts to an extension, decreasing the luxury tax.

Plus players will want to minimize how much money is locked into year 2 because that is the potential lockout year when they might not get paid.

2 years, $20 million for Ray.
3 years, $42 million for Pierce.

OR

4 years, $50 for Pierce.

If they sign for the Celtics:

Paul Pierce: 4yr/$60 million

Ray Allen: 2yr/$26 million

If they sign somewhere else:

Paul Pierce: 4yr/$68 million

Ray Allen: 3yr/$36 million

Both will go for maximum contract as they are both on pole position to ask for it, and also there are not many examples (if any) in the world of sport where player/players take less salaries in order to increase the chances of winning.  Perhaps Karl Malone did that when he went to LA for one last push for a ring....not sure.

The thing is...can we keep both on maximum contracts AND get a decent big guy + JJ Reddick? Not sure, but I go for maximum for both.
