Hate to lose Ray though.   We would probably have to sign a SG for the full MLE to start for us or have TA or the rook Bradley start.   Not sure that is a great idea.

While I really like Lee we would then have a logjam at PF with KG, Lee, and Davis neither of whom we should ask to play center for long periods of time.   If you do this maybe then you would package Davis for someone else.

Maybe Sheed, Davis, and a draft pick for Lee would work.

I can't imagine seeing Curry in green.   I would want Ainge to immediately unload him at the trade deadline in February if this were to happen.

That wouldn't be a logjam... you just play KG & Lee over Davis.

Is Lee a restricted free agent? I bet we offer him the MLE to see if he wants to play for a contender.

Lee is unrestricted. There is ZERO chance he will take the MLE - he's way too good...

That hasn't stopped us before. We approached Corey Maggette with the MLE and he ended up signing for 12 MM a year. It never hurts to ask.

I'm probably more intrigued by this rumor than I should be.

Quote
KNICKS DEALING?:
Perhaps feeling skittish about their chances to entice LeBron James, the Knicks are feverishly trying to peddle center Eddy Curry and his remaining $11.3 million contract, reports the Chicago Tribune. Should they find a taker for Curry, the plan is to pitch James on the idea that the team could add Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson to play along James. [Chicago Tribune]

I feel like we're going to land Lee and still keep Ray.

Idk how, but I just feel that way lol.

Honestly I would much rather see Oden, Pryzbilla, or Amare at the center position

Two separate deals?

S&T Ray for Eddy Curry

S&T David Lee for Sheed + filler

That would be enough to get Lee paid $8M-$10M
and Ray anywhere up to around $13M-$14M

Then we sign Morrow to be a much younger sniper.

If we can get Lee for Sheed and Filler I have no idea why we would trade Ray for the human trash can.

Lee isn't a center.

His numbers vs the Celtics last season:

23 ppg, 12.8 rpg, 4.8apg, 0.8 bpg

Exactly, and why not KG at center? It's not like every team has one that would be a problem for him. Perk usually played the best post man, whether C or PF anyway, KG took the other.

I am just not crazy of the idea of KG playing center the majority of time.  I guess you could get away with it until Perk comes back.   If by some miracle Curry could help out that would be a bonus.

I think the bigger question though is by trading Ray in this deal who is the starting SG on a team you want to contend for a title.  Whether it be a FA such as Morrow, M Miller, or one of our own guys like TA it will be a downgrade at that position. Not to mention say if it's Mike Miller that is starting you deplete the wing depth which I am not too crazy about.

I really don't want Ray to be signed and traded unless if we are lucky enough to upgrade the position.

exactly. why all this obsession to trade for Eddie Curry? That idea doesn't help us in any situation, it only helps the Knicks, which is almost like helping the lakers.

Those are some obviously impressive numbers. Lee is a bruiser and we could definitely use one of those.

I think Lee could definitely play Center for us.

Right! And sometimes it pays off. I don't see the C's being able to get Lee, but I do like him.

The C's need to re-sign Pierce and Allen and pick up a good center and a wing shooter.

I like Mike Miller, but he's probably too expensive. Reddick and Morrow are RFA's and I think their teams will match up to the MLE. Who else is out there? Wes Matthews? Did Utah give him the QO?

As for a Center...Haywood will be too expensive. Dampier, Shaq or Brad Miller?
