I've gotten down on this kid a few times in the past - but he's completely proven me wrong as of late and I couldn't be happier. He's just a nice guy who's had troubled times and is justifying his place on a championship roster. Together with Leon Powe's childhood story, this has to be up there with the rough backgrounds and great NBA success stories.

The only reason I'm bumping this is because I really think people should see it.

As good a reason as any. TP.

Wow, that's crazy.  I wonder how many comments he has heard about his mother since that arrest.

A lot of people think that because they're the professionals and we're the fans we have the right to criticize the players any time about any thing.  But we're looking at some strong individuals who often have overcome more challenge than we could imagine.

And it's really no different than anyone else you come across: you just don't know what that clerk in the store or that guy on the street--or that star getting the award--is dealing with.  Never too much compassion.

I didn't know Big Baby had such a difficult childhood. The images of Davis celebrating his Final Four qualification with his mother gave me chills. TP for Big Baby, it must have been hard for him to grow up with a drug-addict mother and no father.
