Actually no he did not. Kawhi just managed to fake everyone out. The popular sentiment before he started flirting with the Lakers was that he was going to sign with the Clippers. No one gave the Lakers a chance until about 2 weeks ago when he decided to give them a meeting. All of a sudden the Clippers were relegated to the background. WOW.... it now seems as if there was a deliberate plan to weaken the Lakers.

I can't emphasize enough how disastrous this is for the Lakers with zero depth, a bunch of cap space and basically no one left to spend it on, and not even a good FA market next offseason to keep their powder dry for. Glorious news. I was about 2 seconds from going to bed too.

It's crazy that George walked in and forced a trade with OKC just like that.  I'm sure the owners aren't thrilled with all this - the latest chapter in the player empowerment era. 

Consider the Celtics.  They're going to have to likely pay Jaylen ahead of time to keep him from jumping ship to the next team with cap room - and they won't know yet whether he's deserving of a $170 million contract.  Some teams are going to be screwed by this type of scenario when the player doesn't work out.

Players have all the leverage - owners have none.  That's going to have to eventually change.

to be honest this looks like a conspiracy by KL and Clippers. Everyone I read through the year had him going to the Clippers it was quite surprising that he started to flirt with the Lakers last week. What a brilliant move by the Clippers. Stealth move nobody suspected anything, no leaks. How do you do these two deals without a leak. What a brilliant move by Jerry West.

Strengthen the Clippers and weaken the Lakers within a week.
