Let the official Celtics Blog Doc Fan Club line up for congratulations.

Rough timing on this announcement, but Congrats to Doc on a fine regular season.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I guess this is why Coach of the Year is a regular season award, huh?

Doc's had a very strong season and deserved consideration for the award

The coach of the year is always flooded with worthy candidates. Makes it tough for consistently good coaches to stand out.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
the rest of this series will teach us what kind of coach doc is...if he gets outcoached by mike woodson he MUST be fired...

It's funny, but in a way I agree. I think Doc should have been coach of the year, but I think if he somehow loses this series (which he wont), he would have to go, to have this much talent and accomplish nothing would be unacceptable.

aha...I just re-read the title and now see why the congratulations are short in coming.  I thought it said "Doc wins 2nd Coach of the Year"...The mind sees what the mind wants to see.

Well, congrats on the Silver Medal then Doc.
Yup

Byron Scott deserved coach of the year. Byron Scott had half the talent Doc had to work with and still managed to finish 2nd in the west and splitting the season series with the Celtics.

The BS quote says it all.  Just when I started warming up to Doc, he starts having brain farts.  Actually, more like brain diarrhea.

What's amazing is how Jerry Sloan has never won a COY.  That, to me, baffles my mind.

a travesty doc finished 2nd as he legitimately might be the worst coach in the league.  He isn't a better coach just because the team has more talent and ended up with a better record.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

If a caveman was the celtics coach he would have won the award, but doc isnt even close to coach of the year.

I watched every game and we should have lost less than 10 games, but ol doc wont let the opposing team force him to make adjustments, plus he makes terrable adjustments.

4 HOF on this team they should be able to win 60 games with no coach.

If we want that elusive ring we need an x's and o's coach.
