So Spike Lee has spent over $10 million, been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, probably basically the only celebrity that actually shows 'love,' to such a dysfunctional franchise. Super duper loyal.

So the incident started where Spike Lee originally would go only go to the entrance for players/employees only. He has been doing this since the beginning and not one word was mentioned.

He heads over to the entrance, and Knicks security guard tell him he cannot go through. Spike admittedly was confusedly, and asked what did they mean. They explained there was another tunnel he can go through, and those were for celebrities or VIP. They also mentioned that he was told previously by Dolan.

Spike Lee disagrees with this, takes it to the media.

Quote
The Oscar-winning writer-director told ESPN on Tuesday he wouldn’t be attending another Knicks home game this season after a disagreement with Madison Square Garden officials a night earlier over which elevator he could use.

“I’m done for the season. I’m done,” Lee said on the program “First Take” while wearing a Knicks hat.

A video circulated online during New York’s 125-123 victory over Houston on Monday showing Lee getting frustrated and yelling at Garden security outside an elevator, leading to confusion that he may have been thrown out of the building.

However, a Knicks spokesman said that was untrue and that it was simply an issue of Lee using the wrong entrance.

Quote
Lee said he had has been using the employee entrance on 33rd Street for more than two decades as a season ticket holder. The Knicks wanted him to use the entrance for celebrities, which is two blocks away.

But Lee said he had already had his ticket scanned so he refused to leave, fearing that he wouldn’t be allowed back in. He said he told security to “arrest me like my brother Charles Oakley” — a reference to the former Knicks forward’s ejection from a game and ensuing arrest in 2017.

Lee said he was not told when the elevator policy changed, adding that he used the employee entrance just last week for another event.

“They never said when the thing changed, so why not call me?” Lee said. “When my deposit’s due, this astronomical price for Knicks tickets and I’m one day late, my phone is ringing off the hook.”

Lee has long been one of the Knicks’ most visible and demonstrative fans. He spoke to MSG executive chairman James Dolan at halftime Monday and was still in his sideline seat in the fourth quarter.

Knicks respond with this:
Quote
"The idea that Spike Lee is a victim because we have repeatedly asked him to not use our employee entrance and instead use a dedicated VIP entrance- which is used by every other celebrity who enters the garden - is laughable. It's disappointing that Spike would create this false controversy to create drama. He is welcome to come to The Garden anytime via the VIP or general entrance; just not through our employee entrance, which what he and Jim agreed to last night when they shook hands"

They have also posted a blurry picture of Dolan and Spike Lee shaking hands, along with the picture of the entrance that Spike is now supposed enter.

Regardless, this is a terrible move on their part. James Dolan is a moron per usual. He's alienating the fan base, and making it even harder for the most devoted fans to 'defend,' his idiocy and ignorance.

Sounds like they made their own bed by allowing him through the player entrance all those years.

Instead of glossing over their nice win against the Rockets, now they have to deal with this.

C'mon Spike!!

Okay fair enough but you don't think for a second after the Oakley incident, they could've just ignored this? Swept this under the rug and issue some kind of public apology rather than attack him?

Lee came off as immature, but... Knicks proving once again how dysfunctional they are internally.

My guess is that ONE PERSON in a Knicks uniform could've stopped this nonsense

The ping pong balls didn't fall their way, unfortunately.

Zion wouldn't have cured all the Knicks ills overnight but he certainly would've helped.

So thankful for the choices Danny has made (and NOT made) over the last few years.

he deserves his own entrance after staying with them VISIBLY and paying for so long! Most other celebs are now fans of the team their friends play for (lot of new celeb laker fans and before kobe passing btw)! Also, a lot of them aren't paying to see that crap decade after decade (can't really blame them), that's a waste of money that the terrible management gets to spend while putting out subpar product!

On one hand, they have a VIP entrance he could use but on the other hand, I don't think other celebs would care if Spike gets to use the employee entrance and they couldn't.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I bet they have gotten inquiries/complaints from other VIPs in regards to why they can't use the employee entrance when Spike Lee does.  There's a good chance some were using the employee entrance and then complied with the Knicks direction to use the VIP entrance.

If the Knicks had gotten Zion, they would have screwed it up somehow.  They had KP and screwed that relationship up.
