This year’s Trade Deadline falls on February 6th. I figured we could accumulate news and notes that emerge throughout the week. Here’s a rumor that Woj just tweeted out:

Quote from: Woj
Rockets shopping center Clint Capela to host of East teams

The Houston Rockets are actively discussing several trade scenarios involving center Clint Capela, including with a host of Eastern Conference franchises, league sources tell ESPN.

The Rockets are engaged in three-way trade possibilities that might allow for them to use Capela to gather the draft assets needed to acquire an impact wing player, league sources said.

In talks around the league, the Rockets are expressing hope that they could find a deal -- or a series of deals -- that would bring them back a wing and a center for Capela by Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, sources said.

The Rockets are 31-18 and fifth in the Western Conference standings.

Atlanta has been interested in acquiring a starting level center and has talked with Houston about Capela and Oklahoma City about Steven Adams, league sources said. Atlanta's talks with Detroit about center Andre Drummond lost momentum in recent weeks.

Capela, 25, is the most valuable trade asset available on the Rockets' roster, and the cost certainty and control of his contract is appealing to teams.

He makes $14.9 million this year and has successive seasons paying him $16 million, $17.1 million and $18.2 million on the books.

He's averaging 13.9 points and 13.8 rebounds a game for the Rockets. He has missed three straight games with a heel injury.

wonder if Danny is interested in Capela.

I hope not. Capela is overrated. We'll lose some key players to get him.

wonder if Danny is interested in Capela.

It depends what the price is. Not for Smart.

Random idea:

Langford + Williams + Poirier + Green + Semih + 1st

for

Capela + Rivers

No way the Rockets would take on 3 extra players. You'd need 1 or 2 extra teams involved just for the roster spots

Sure, but that part is easy enough to figure out.

If there's a third team out there that wants young assets and has a wing Houston wants, I can see a three-way that brings Capela back to Boston. That'd be great.

If you have to trade Smart or another one of our core guys to bring back Capela, then easy no for me.

Atlanta sounds like the right kind of team to work as the third team taking back assets from us.

Seen a few Capela-Covington ideas involving the C's floated around out there.

Capela to Boston
Theis, Covington to Houston
Langford, Poirier, picks to Minnesota.

Theis could be swapped out with Kanter too and would still work according to the trade machine.

I don’t think so.  Every big-name center that has come onto the market has been linked to them— Drummond, Adams, now Capela.  They seem very intent on getting one.  Why, I’m not sure, but they clearly do.

It could be something like:

Minny receives: Langford, Poirier, Memphis 1st
Houston receives: Covington, Theis
Celtics receive: Capella

Keeps the Celtics core while upgrading the center position.
