Excellent second quarter.  Good to see Derrick White insert himself into the game.  Now let's get Jrue to do the same.

Finish the job!

I know we’re up 24 at halftime, but I think we still have a chance of winning this one.

Lol. There's no reason to trust this team with a big lead.

What can I say,  an optimist.

Annddddd another wide open three given up to stupid drop coverage. MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT JOE! Are you really worried about them beating us off the dribble going to the rim?

Yes. You’re exactly right. Not playing drop coverage puts more stress on our wings and brings foul trouble into play for them. They’re playing the math, let KP be a help defender, and ask the wings to fight through screens. Herro is not on fire tonight. It’s the right call. Now it Herro we’re 4/5 from 3, and adjustment would be needed, but not yet.

I mean, that's exactly what they did all last game with Herro going off and we made no adjustment.

I just don't think it makes any sense to play drop coverage against this team with very limited options to kill you from inside the arc when their best (only?) way to beat you is via the three point shot.

At least we're more aggressive on the other shooters tonight, but the drop coverage is still a problem that is regularly giving them open looks. If you're playing the math game, 3's are worth more than 2's, and they're not good enough offensively to make enough 2's to win the game.

But you have to also factor what could happen if you don’t play drop coverage. Would you rather some open/lightly contested 3 attempts, or all of those plays being drives on Tatum/Brown? Maybe they’ll be fouls, maybe they won’t be. Maybe the 3s will go in, maybe they won’t. The math in the NBA says they’ll miss the 3 more than they’ll make it. Obviously, game 2 was a historical anomaly.

Holiday in 18 minutes took 0 shots lol, but has 5 assists and is playing much better swarm defense.

4 guys in double figures, all four of those players have at least 4 rebounds too.

Great first half. Now let's see if Spoelstra has any adjustments

The funny thing is, the Heat fans are saying that the C's are shooting very well while Miami is just missing shots and making dumb turnovers. The exact stuff we rightfully said about our team in Game 2

Sometimes it really is a make or miss league. But our talent is just way superior to theirs and that makes a difference in the grand scheme of things.

Obviously you can affect the shots too, the C's are playing way better defense and with more energy than Game 2.

Those heat fans are just ignorant then, because we shot 38% from 3 in the first 1/2.   That isn't some great outlier from what we normally shoot like it was for Miami in game 2.   We were around 38% from 3 in the regular season.

We are now at a restaurant and one of the TVs we're seated next to has the game on.

Order is restored  :)

Yup. The difference is, if both teams play badly and do stupid things, the Cs win by 15. Thats where the talent level is.

BTW, anyone else get so tense they can’t watch? Um, asking for a friend…

That butt kicking last game might have been a blessing in disguise. Need to do it for 24 more mins though that’ll be the telling part.

Nah, you're just a realist. How many big leads have we lost this year? I think people have been focusing on the Celtics of seasons past. We held more 30 point leads than 10 point deficits this season, and we only lost 18 games this year in total. The way people talk about this year's team isn't an accurate reflection of the games we've actually played. "Oh, the Celtics are playing with their food again." Meanwhile, we clinched the #1 seed in the East before any other team clinched a playoff spot. But doomers gonna doom.
