To me Rich Paul telling every team AD is not staying with them unless they are the Lakers is basically telling every team who is not the Lakers to not throw your best assets for AD. Why would a team trade away their future for someone who isn’t staying?

So this news would drop some teams out completely and the team who do remain will throw out lower offers. I BELIVE that this means the Celtics aren’t throwing in Tatum and Brown, but everyone else is available. If I were the Pels I’d pay attention to the fact that the Lakers players gave up during the season, they have no playoff experience, they are accustomed to losing, and they aren’t durable at all.

Smart has had injuries, but always showed hurt, will, and determination to get back on that court and play his heart out. Celtics other assets aren’t injury prone, Hayward had 1 freak accident, but even during his recovery year he only missed games for soreness not for any injuries or a reinjury. Lastly, all of the Celtics players have playoff experience/success and have all had multiple winning seasons.

I wouldn’t want my #1 Pick surrounded by a bunch of other young immature guys. I also wouldn’t want him with a bunch of players whom are ok with losing. That’s just me, but I’m not GM.

[Turner/LA Times] And though the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics have inquired about Davis, neither team is willing to gut its roster for the multi-skilled forward because both believe it would leave them without a strong enough team by having sent out so much talent.

[Ganguli & Turner] The Lakers might have an opportunity to keep their No. 4 pick should they agree to part with Kuzma.

It just makes so little sense for us now that Kyrie is leaving.  Seems like Ainge just might be bored waiting for the Bruins game and is driving up the price.

Keep smart. Keep memphis. Keep 14.

Or dont do it.

That's asking for too much to keep for a generational talent player.
Not when it's a generational talent that will be walking out the door a year from now.

Woj ESPN Story:

Quote
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in separate trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans in pursuit of All-NBA forward Anthony Davis, league sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

The Lakers and Celtics are negotiating competing trade packages to acquire Davis, whom New Orleans EVP of Basketball Operations David Griffin seems intent on trading prior to the NBA draft on June 20, league sources said.

New Orleans and Los Angeles have canvassed the league with the Lakers' No. 4 overall pick to find a third-team who would use that selection in exchange for sending a high-level player to the Pelicans as part of a deal, league sources said.

The Lakers package has been centered on guard Lonzo Ball and forward Brandon Ingram, sources said. So far, it is believed that the Lakers are trying to hold onto forward Kyle Kuzma in a potential trade.

The Brooklyn Nets and LA Clippers are two teams with interest in Davis who've been able to gather any traction in conversations with New Orleans, league sources said.

The Lakers appear to be trying to exercise some level of restraint in trade talks, especially given that they hold the leverage as Davis' preferred destination. Davis' agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports has indicated publicly and privately to the Celtics that Davis would leave Boston in free agency in 2020, essentially becoming a one-year rental for the Celtics.

Nevertheless, Boston is still determined to trade for Davis and hope that he can be an allure to keep All-Star guard Kyrie Irving from leaving in free agency.

Irving had discussed the possibility of joining Kevin Durant as a free agent in either New York or Brooklyn, sources said, but Durant has been lost for the 2019-20 season after surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles.

Word of the negotiations quickly caused a shift in the odds to win the 2019-20 NBA championship at Caesars Sportsbook. The Celtics went from 16-1 to 10-1, and the Lakers improved from 8-1 to 5-1. Meanwhile, the Pelicans' odds to win it all decreased from 40-1 to 60-1.

That 4 pick has about the same value as the 14 pick. Do not see anyone out there willing to move a big time player for it.

Not hating on the 4th Pick because the Lakers own it, I agree. After Barrett I’m not excited about any players until the 12-25 range.

It's kind of funny how everything is being leaked from the Lakers end but nothing from the Celtics or even Knicks who I assume are also actively discussing AD and hypothetical offers.

The Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and the No. 4 pick in the June 20 draft available in trade talks with the Pelicans, league sources say. New Orleans has made it known it hope to assemble a three-teams-or-more deal before surrendering Anthony Davis

Lakers are so dumb.  Just empty the war chest.

Yeah, that’s definitely not getting it done, especially with Ingram’s health issues, Ball’s questionable durability and family baggage, and the fact that this is a three player draft.

Also, you know you can resign him long term and you will get guys to go play with him to build it up.   Why **** around worrying about kyle kuzma and the rest.

Yeah, but that doesn’t seem to be the only thing holding back a trade at this point. Seems they want LA to also translate that number 4 pick into a star for them, too, which seems likely impossible at this point.

How’s its been this WHOLE time. Something is extremely wrong with this organization and cannot understand why a player would force his way into that mess.

HOLY **** I went on NBA Reddit to see what they were saying, and one of the first posts was a Woj tweet saying they (Lakers) got AD for just Ingram, #4 and Hart. Gave me a mini-heart attack as I also saw 100+ comments under that post thinking it was real (but it was NOT real and now it's deleted lol)

Lol not even close. That’s speculation (illogical at that) from two LA-based reporters that favors the Lakers. 🙄

Woj reiterates Davis isn't staying in Boston, yet Ainge is undeterred. Hopefully Wyc hasn't gone insane, as Ainge obviously has, and intervenes before Ainge totally guts the franchise for a player who doesn't want to be here.

Uh, false. Woj reiterates that RICH PAUL IS THREATENING that outcome. That’s significantly different than Woj stating AD leaving as fact and set in stone.

Yeah and Rich Paul can join AD in helping him (and Kyrie and GH) hoist Banner 18 in Boston a year from now - with KD still recovering from his unfortunate injury and kawhi out in Clipperland with Doc Rivers............

I'd gather that Rich Paul would look awfully cool with Danny Ainge on one of those Duck Boats.
