That’s the type of package that should get you someone better than Jrue Holiday. Idk who, but SOMEONE.

So Portland now looks like

G: Scoot Henderson, Malcolm Brogdon
G: Anfernee Simons
F: Shaedon Sharpe, M Thybulle
F: Jerami Grant
C: DeAndre Ayton, Rob Williams

That center rotation is a huge improvement over last year. The three guard backcourt rotation is nice. The forward rotation is weak outside of Jerami Grant. Starting to piece together a solid bench.

If I were them, I'd be trying to trade on Brogdon & Timelord elsewhere for future picks.

In the meantime, the team is reasonably solid. Not a bottom 5 team in the league. Probably somewhere around 10th worst team.

I think Brogdon was not going to be a happy camper this season. Think the reports were probably pretty accurate.

Rob is a loss but he was going to come off the bench and was going to miss 30 plus games at some point with an injury.

Time to win a title. This move does so. Give them a guy that can defend Dame, not afraid of going to the hoop in Holiday. He has won a title.

It’s all going to come down to who is healthy at the end. Just like it does every year. C’s gave up a lot of depth to get a slight upgrade at the PG/SG. It’s a long season.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Brad has some big, hairy ones. I’ve always loved Jrue, but it looks like a big overpay to me. But wow, what a starting five.

Many here thought what they gave up for White was an overpay. The C' are going for it now. Holiday not only fills a need, he's the best player in the deal. They did give up quite a bit, but I think it's a move they needed to make. I'm a lot more optimistic about the season now. Injuries and the Joe factor are now the only major concerns.

Pin this, so if we win Banner 18, I’ll happily come back here and eat my words. But this leaves us really, really thin. I hope there is one more big out there.

Stevens traded away Robert Williams? He’s absolutely dead to me now.

People on this board scream for guys like Hauser and PP to have regular roles. They have that now. They do need to add a big off the bench. But Holiday is an upgrade on Brogdon...health, leadership, defense, toughness.

It just doesn’t add up to me

Jrue is on a rental

You give up Timelord, a young perspective center and you leave yourself thin upfront.

The picks i don’t care about.

Just hurts to see both Smart and TL go
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Adios. If trading away a bench guy that misses 30 plus games a season makes you swear off the Celtics then I so be it.

Blazers are going to be interesting to watch.

Like the deal for C's. Health was too much of an issue with TL and Brogdon

Would you trade Brogdon, Timelord, a 2024 GSW first & a 2029 unprotected first for Marcus Smart?

No? why would you do it for Jrue Holiday?

What will Jrue Holiday do as a 4th option that is so much more valuable than what Smart was doing for us?

Jrue is not going to have the touches / shot attempts to be a 17-20ppg 7-8apg guy here. Not unless they are coming at the expense of someone else's offense. His role is going to be much more similar to what Smart's role has been on offense in the playoffs over the last few seasons.

You don’t get Williams clearly — so same to you, Magic.

I said in the other thread that I thought this exact deal would be an overpay. I still think it's an overpay.
It is disappointing to give up both (1) Brogdon & Timelord (2) two first including a far off unprotected 2029 first.

I would have thought it would have been one or the two. Two quality starting caliber players. Or two firsts. Not both together.

I for one am glad to see Brad recognized this team needed to be overhauled. He brought in two all star players in KP and Holiday. Moved an often injured and upset Brogdon. Gave the lockerroom to JT and JB by moving Smart.

They need another big off the bench but the closing line up is going to be great. Rob just can't stay healthy.

Brad is going in all in.

Still Seems like a lot to give up. Rob while off injured Is a high quality roleplayer and was great in the playoffs. And Brogdon likewise was 6th man of the year

But seems like Brad thought bucks getting dame put them above us and those is what we needed..

And clearly when you underperform each year changes need to be made
