The second coming of Brandon Bass

Slightly undersized, tough defense, sweet jump shot, great team player.

The player I was hoping Semi Ojeleye was going to become.

Glad we have Grant. He’s never going to be a star, but he’s a solid role player.

Nah, Bass has an impressive 7'25'' wingspan which allowed him to play bigger than his size. Grant has a 6' 9'75'' wingspan and is a mediocre athlete, but he has deeper range and higher BBIQ. To Bass' credit, basketball was a different game prior to the immergence of the pace-and-space era. Chances are he would have developed a 3pt shot in today's NBA. I mean, he was very reliable from mid range, plus he's a career 83.2% FT shooter. More often than not, FT% is indicative of shooting potential. Unlike Grant, Bass was a black hole on offense. Neither of them can/could put the ball on the floor to create their own shot. All in all, Bass was a better athlete. Grant is a better basketball player. Since both of them play(ed) almost exclusively off the ball, gimme the better athlete (Bass) over the more versatile player (Grant).

I've been pleasantly surprised by Grant this season. I wasn't even sure whether we would have picked his 2022/23 team option tbh. Turns out we shouldn't have asked him to gain weight. He's a swing, not a big. I view him as a useful role player. Nothing more than that. He would have had a slightly higher ceiling if he could have played at small-ball Center.

a great 2020's role player.  He's smart, can basically switch 1-5 and do okay.  He can stretch the floor and is a better athlete than given credit for.  And, he's been my pet cat even through last year, when he was the favorite whipping boy.

I'm not surprised that he's playing well at all.

A ''great'' role player is someone like Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder (3+D) or Joe Harris, Duncan Robinson (off-ball specialists) or Timelord (rim runner). Grant is just useful in a very limited role.

Has Grant surpassed Brandon Clarke? I’d say yes.

Thybulle? Good conversation.

An acceptable third forward as long as he isn't asked to do any shot creation
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

A Meme just waiting to happen... ;)

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.
