I don't think this is even a .500 team.

not many teams will play plus .500 ball down two starters..

we were missing a good 35 points from our roster tonight, if someone, anyone doesn't step up how can you win?

We haven't been missing two starters for most of the season. So far, we are what we are, a mediocre team. We can improve, but based on what we've seen so far this team is a near .500 team. I'm not  going  to make excuses for them when they repeatedly throw the ball away every game and take poor shots.

i was obviously referring to tonight...but I don't disagree with you or Kuberski at all.
just pointing out that things have been worse since Jaylen has been out.

Except for the Cavs win, the only times we have won since Jaylen went out with the hamstring are nights when DS really went off offensively.

Some nights up, some nights down. Little reliable bench offense.  When the 2 Jays are on they'll look great. When one of them isn't it will always be a struggle. If both are off, look out below.  And the way Udoka is using his bigs, one old - the other with a significant injury history, should one of them go down for a lengthy period of time (likely in my opinion) they won't be beating many decent teams.

If Brad doesn't make any signifcant roster moves this feels like about a 38-44 team.

i didn't watch the game, but is there any silver lining in the fact that Grant had a good statistical night?

ok well maybe there you go.
maybe Tatum getting out of his shooting funk will help win a few of these close games.

such a weird season so far, if you would have told me that after 15-20 games the standings would include

8.  Philly
9. Boston
10. Toronto
11. Mil
12. Atlanta

well I just wouldn't have thought it would be very likely... (well maybe toronto isn't surprising at that seed...)

It's fine. New coach blah blah.

I'm scared we're doing the same thing as last season, where we had all those excuses.

But our defense is better this year in the games I was able to watch. Once we play with effort we'll do better.

We need more offense.

Yup. Maybe some scoring off the bench. Bench points: Celtics 11 Hawks 32

And all 11 of those came from Josh Richardson. The rest:

Code: [Select]
Name Min FG 3FG PT
Langford 14 0-2 0-1 0
Kanter 14 0-3 0-0 0
Nesmith 11 0-2 0-2 0
Pritchard 2 0-2 0-2 0
Hernangomez 2 0-0 0-0 0
Fernando 2 0-0 0-0 0
Thomas 2 0-0 0-0 0

TOTAL 0-9 0-5 0

What has happened to Payton and Nessie? Totally dismal this year so far.

I thought going into Summer League and preseason that our bench was supposed to be a strength this season...I wonder if Ime freezing them out for the first 10+ games of the season has affected their confidence and their production.

Other than Josh Richardson, 47 minutes of bench play, 0-9, 0-5 from three, ZERO points.

Part of why trading JB won't work.

Don't give away good parts when you need good parts. That's like swapping good for good. Your other guys will still be useless.

This is also my pickle with trading Smart. Smart's not the problem. Extended bench is. Smart's GREAT to have off the bench on a championship team.

I feel wed be better when DS becomes our primary 6th man. Right now we have to play our top bench guys as starters.

Well, sure, but that'd still leave a slot open.

I feel in this league you need either 4 insanely good starters, or have AT LEAST 2 10-20pt performances off the bench, to be able to compete for a title.
