Smart was suffering from migraines and vomiting before the game, he almost decided to sit out:

Marcus Smart said he has been suffering from migraines and vomited this morning but said he decided this afternoon to play. #Celtics

Well, that explains a lot. He looked really bad for the frist 3 and a half quarters. He must have played himself into the game.

Tatum for Randle who says no?? Hahahahahahahaha.

I wouldn't do that in a million years. Tatum is already better then Randle is earlier in his career, and his upside is so much higherthat it's not even funny.

Randle for Brown...maybe I'll think about that.  Still not sure I'd do it, but we do need an offensive minded big that can be a fixture on the team in the long term.

..................... and who has mental toughness and a hard-core competitor's mindset.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Are there people out there who still wish the C’s had kept Hayward for $30m/year?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I would've kept him for $20m...not $30m though.

Glad for the victory. I realize its four games but C's need a true point guard.

Shroder is that guard.

Schroder should continue to start.  If Williams plays like this, he should, too.
Those guys with JT, JB and Smart

Time after time Celtics nation ready to trade him after he stinks up nearly 98% of the game on offense .  Then will the game on the line , he hits a Curry long three ,  blocks a 7 ft guys shot , steals in bound pass,  grabs a rebound and put back between three bigger guys,  makes a Brady pass for a bucket …..these plays go on and on.   I ve lost track ….there should be video of Smarts all time winning plays . What the heck is he doing the rest of the game ?
Not Smart, either he comes off the bench or trade him for a shooter....He wouldn't have to make so many game-saving plays if he didn't shoot 1-9

LoL ….too funny …. But true

Smart drives me crazy. He needs to make big plays before it's desperation time.

Good game, not perfect, lots of positives though.  I just hope the Trade Tatum noise goes quiet now.

The noise made by five armchair gm’s on this forum?

My main concer is that this team should be, must be soooo much better defensively. That is an understatement. The switch everything nonsence must stop, or just start rob williams as a primary defender on the oppositions Pg right away, at least it migh cause some confusion, other than that it is as useless as our main strategy. Switch on bigs yes, switch on smalls yes, but don’t mix and match.

Yeah, switching everything makes the Defense too predictable. It should be a man/help defense with different looks depending on the team we're playing.

"Steve Bulpett: According to the NBA, the only officiating mistake in the last two minutes of either the fourth quarter or overtime in last night’s Celtics-Charlotte game was that the Hornets should have been called for an 8-second backcourt violation with 17.6 left in the 4th."

It was such a short time ago that Smart was a virtual lock for starting point guard. That ended like 3 minutes into game 1. His defense has been way off since last year. He Dog’s in hard from time to time and he’s great when he does. GREAT. But he doesn’t give the consistent effort anymore . He gambles more and more . I’d be great with giving the starting job to Schroeder. Not that he’s the greatest but he creates more for others and gets bodies moving. It’s so stagnant with Marcus and he’s just as bad a shooter with worse shot selection. But I fear Ime would never do it. I dint think we have captains right now or will be size Marcus said it was meaningless.
