Apparently it’s a ‘known secret’ that Donovan Mitchell isn’t staying in Cleveland past his current deal. The Cavs can maximize their return with 3 years left on Mitchell’s deal, stocking up on great future picks.

The last two seasons, Cleveland have had offensive issues playing Allen & Mobley together. One player would eventually be moved given their future salaries.

Bridges is the perfect defensive glue guy and we’ve seen he has more offensive potential if given the opportunity.

Although Ben Simmons would be a salary dump, this Cavs team would actually compliment his best  attributes. Mobley wouldn’t crowd the paint on offence & Garland doesn’t need to hold the ball.

The Nets bring back Allen and get a ‘local’ superstar in Donovan Mitchell. With three years left on his deal and a solid core, Brooklyn give themselves a great shot at re-signing Mitchell and competing straight away.

Bridges + Cam Johnson for Jaylen

Can't happen till the offseason though due to Jaylen's recent extension.

If that trade was on the table, I think Cleveland would do that.  That is a lot of draft picks.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I don't think the Nets would do it. Bridges is already their primary star and Mitchell isn't head and shoulders better than him. Also, Bridges is on a cheaper deal. I also don't think Allen is that much better than Claxton, so why would the Nets also be giving up a million draft picks?

Also, the Cavs whole reason for moving off Allen is due to Mobley not developing enough as a shooter to share the court with a traditional, non-shooting big. If you acquire Simmons, it's the same problem. Also, Simmons wants to play PG, which is easy in Brooklyn where they only have Dinwiddie. In Cleveland they already have Garland as the primary ballhandler. It's one thing to expect him to step aside for Mitchell, but now he's sacrificing for Ben Simmons?
