Lol I just realized. Simmons believes PHI offered Simmons in a package for AD on the same day Simmons was traded to PHI in a package for Fultz  :P

While I don't think Philly actually offered Simmons, it seems NOP is holding out for, and would prefer, Tatum anyways.

I suppose Simmons has greater trade value than Tatum right now. Playoffs may shift market perception though. It did last year.

I have been critical on Simmons, but if there was a re-draft then I would take him #1 again from his 2016 draft class. On the other hand Tatum is also clearly the #1 from his draft class.

Just for fun my top 20 (with a top 7 that I see as likely future All Stars) from the 2016 draft, in hindsight. Also there's still a lot that can happen with this draft class. Jaylen Brown could still become the best player from his class (like Paul George), but his development has some uncertainty. Overall I think we can already say that it was a strong draft class.

1. Ben Simmons
2. Domantas Sabonis
3. Jamal Murray
4. Buddy Hield
5. Jaylen Brown
6. Malcolm Brogdon
7. Pascal Siakam
8. Brandon Ingram
9. Kris Dunn
10. Juan Hernángomez
11. Caris Levert
12. Ivica Zubac
13. Malik Beasley
14. Jakob Poeltl
15. Dejounte Murray
16. Derrick Jones Jr.
17. Fred VanVleet
18. Jake Layman
19. Ante Zizic
20. Taurean Prince
