In five hours Walker will take the court for the Idaho Stampede of the NBA's Developmental League. For now he has agreed to talk about how and why he came to be here—a three-time All-Star living in a $915-a-month apartment he shares with reserve guard Chris Davis, and playing for a salary of less than $25,000. He has no car, subsists mainly on cold cuts and fast food and plays in front of crowds as small as 155.

This is a must-read for Antoine fans.  It's a pretty good peak into his life as he attempts to get back to the NBA.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have time on his side.  He's already 35.

Antoine would...but then again why take betting advice from a guy who can't even step foot in Foxwoods?

He should look into coaching. Pretty smart player and definitely a motivator.

Feel sorry for him

In all honesty, he made some awful mistakes. You have to give it to him for at least attempting the comeback. I feel that in the next few years this story will show up on ESPN's 30 for 30 series.

Ughhh, poor guy. I always loved his spirit and he was my favorite player for years [I still am flabbergasted by the Raef Lafrentz trade]. I am pretty disappointed in Paul Pierce for not having anything to say - that is pretty low. Hopefully he will get a book deal one day and make up his debts and have a little extra for himself. Sad story, but I have a feeling the story isn't over...

Checked out the story.

It would seem that he could help SOMEONE, doesn't it?  There isn't a team in the league that can use him?  How about more money in China?

To be fair, for $900 per month you can live in a 3000 square foot penthouse suite in Boise.

trouble with antoine (now) is he can't play well enough to get a euro contract, and get some money is his bank account
he's 35, overweight and his skills have deteriorated - as stated maybe he can turn this into a coaching thing
not sure if i would ever consider him a smart player after how he played and took care of himself but he was definitely a good motivator

one of the celtics i never liked but sad to see anyone this far down

Well, it's not about money.   Antoine has better opportunity to acheive that most folks do. He is making a living as a player with hope of a bigger payday.  If that doesn't pan out, he has many connections that could lead to job offers, and who knows, perhaps a Michael Holley or someone like him will work with him to write a riches to rags tale that may be compelling, and may have some important cautionary value.

The big issue is whether Antoine can get his emotional life and compulsions dealt with so that he can be satisfied as a person whether or not he ever again makes big bucks.

When he's done playing, he should do television.  Surely Comcast would take him.
