The Whale. Very well done, very depressing. Brendan Fraser was incredible, he won an Oscar for the performance. If you have Showtime, it’s free to watch.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Saw "The Holdovers" on Friday night. Really enjoyed it.  Giamatti is awesome.  So is Da'Vine Joy Randolph.  Movie was sorta Catcher in the Rye meets Outside Providence meets Dead Poets Society.

Bulk of the film was filmed in Massachusetts so some places might look familiar.

Yeah.  Good movie, but not something that's going to uplift you.

Yeah.  Good movie, but not something that's going to uplift you.

I think that is the same director as Requiem for a Dream. His movies are pretty amazing (Requiem is my ultimate favorite) but also depressing at the same time.

The Holdovers and Killers of the Flower Moon are both excellent movies.

Been watching pieces of Killers of the Flower and I am finding very interesting but the movie is so long, I have to break it down. Also because the characters and story is pretty frustrating so I will watch 30 minutes of it then something that gets me in a better mood. It is interesting though.

American Fiction, which I liked very much. Also watched Poor Things. It was pretty weird, but I found it entertaining

American Fiction, which I liked very much. Also watched Poor Things. It was pretty weird, but I found it entertaining

I enjoyed it but wasn’t crazy about the ending.

Dune: Part Two. Just incredible…I think It was better than part one. Definitely a movie that should be seen at the theater.

Oppenheimer - Great movie.

Most interesting era of US history for me is WW2 thru the early 60's and the Manhattan Project was fascinating. My late aunt worked on it in Oak Ridge. The understanding I have of Robert Oppenheimer is that he did have an interest in communism/socialism in a pure form and whether it would be the most beneficial way for a society to function. I never saw any indication that he was in favor of the corrupt and evil dictatorships in places like Russia and China. I also see him as a patriot who was loyal to America. I'm curious about how accurate the scene is with him and President Truman in the White House.

Also ran across "Bohemian Rhapsody" on tv recently. I've never given a whit about rock & roll music, but my goodness, I was blown away by Freddy Mercury and the story of Queen.  I went to youtube and watched the actual Live Aid performance from 1985. I've never seen anyone like him, the powerful voice and the stage charisma. Incredible man and a heartbreaking loss.
