Draft picks aplenty for Celtics (again)
The Celtics are poised to have three first-rounders in next year’s draft, and possibly two lottery picks. But, according to league sources, none of Boston’s picks are expected to be available at the deadline.

Boston has the Grizzlies’ pick, protected for the top eight. Memphis currently has the ninth spot in the draft, tied with Dallas, but is on a downward trajectory, going 4-13 after a 15-9 start. The Celtics could lose this pick if Memphis keeps dropping, but it is protected only for the top six next year and unprotected in 2021 — just in time for the departures of Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, and the

Even though we can't trade for Anthony Davis until July 1 (when Kyrie opts out), we can negotiate with them once the offseason starts. So we can draft players they like and trade their rights in an Anthony Davis trade.

You probably won't know how good our picks will be in value until after the draft lottery. The Sacramento pick could become Philly's pick on draft lottery day falling into the 20's, not good. The LAC pick could end up as a 2022 second round pick, so could be basically worthless. The Memphis pick could possibly not convey the next two drafts and could become a 2021 1st rounder that could suck if Memphis can get good quick after 1 1/2 years of tanking.

For these reasons, I don't see any team trying to get one of those picks while giving up a very good asset. Maybe the Sac pick but even then if you do trade for the Sac pick before the  trade deadline, you probably need to be happy with the fact that Sacramento could get hot after the trade and cost you 3-5 slots in the draft if they do.

This. The C's can't bring him in until Kyrie's new deal is done and the Pelicans don't want to move him until they have to (in other words, until they know for sure he wants out) so the C's are going to keep their assetts until they have a chance at AD in the summer.

I find it odd that Boston wouldn't at least put its own pick out there in a trade to improve the team.  I mean if they aren't going to make moves to drop below the luxury tax line, then they might as well try to improve the team.
